Stop n Shop is constantly changing their store, going from quite convenient to so convenient you’ll wonder where the remote and the TV went, so you can take a nap on some lawn furniture. We took a little trip to Stop N Shop recently in search of a CoinStar machine. A little birdie told us they now cash out to gift cards, and for a limited time you can cash out to a Stop and Shop gift card for free. So our adventure began.

Soon after realizing there was a good deal at this Stop and Shop, we pulled out the flyer and wrote up a quick list. Just some basics, not a big trip this time. Since we are already going to the supermarket, we might as well take inventory and see what we need. Lists always make shopping trips go smoother. Less browsing and slowly walking about, and more quick trips. Less crying less complaining, we hope. This particular trip went well, there was little traffic and the store was only mildly full. There were lines, but the lines moved pretty quickly.

They had everything on the list, but upon further investigation of the CoinStar machine, we found it was not functioning correctly. It couldn’t accept the money, let alone count anything, LOL. But there were indeed options to get a get a gift card free, so that was right. We were a bit disapointed in the CoinStar machine, but we are happy to know there is one in such a convenient location. Thanks for the effort, Stop and Shop.
Oh well, maybe next time. The idea of being able to cash in my coins at the Stop & Shop Coinstar kiosk would be a nice option for my family. We’re always busy, so being able to convert coins while grocery shopping is much more convenient than rolling them and a separate trip to the bank. To not be charged any fee to convert coins to a Stop & Shop card just makes sense, since I’m already shopping there anyway!

Disclosure- I have been paid (at Coinstar’s request) to try and blog about Coinstar’s products/services as part of a Collective Bias shopper insights study. All opinions are my own.

  1. Appreciate this post. Let me try it out.

  2. This Mom doesn’t have time to run to the bank to deal with coins – I do most of my banking online now, anyway. I love the idea of being able to shop and deal with coins all in one trip!

  3. Ohh, not good. My kids enjoyed taking turns putting the money into the machine and helping to shop afterwards.

  4. I’ve not seen that option before either??? I”ll have to be sure to pay attention next time.

  5. We don’t have these types of machines but I wish we did.

  6. We love our CoinStar. I’m not sure we have this option, maybe I missed it. Either way it’s a great option to have

  7. machines are like that sometimes

  8. That stinks that you weren’t able to try out the options. Converting change to a store gift card sounds great. An easy way to get gifts!
