Summer is getting closer, and you might be thinking “waterparks”. In Tannersville, PA, there is a new location that sports both an indoor and an outdoor water park- well, at two separate prices (but I’m guessing they will offer a discount come the summer-season).
This past weekend, Aquatopia Indoor Waterpark opened up at Camelback Lodge in Pennsylvania. I should say, parts of Aquatopia opened up. The hotel rooms are not yet ready for occupation, and only some of the water slides and park areas are (at this time) ready for use. Much of the exterior is also still under construction, but the official opening was on Thursday, when it was able to be used for the first time.
My son very much enjoyed the larger slide area, complete with giant bucket of water that dumps down on the pool every few minutes. There will be 13 water slides when construction is completed, including Venus SlydeTrap, a very innovative and unique slide (the only one like it in the world). The Venus SlydeTrap allows three to six riders at a time on a “family rafting tube”. It mates together three waterslide experiences into one 600 foot long, fully enclosed slide. I know we can’t wait to try that one out when it’s ready.
The indoor water park is always a pleasant eighty four degrees Fahrenheit, with plenty of seating, table and chair sets, and lounge areas as well as private cabanas for rent. There are areas for big kids, little kids, and the in-between, as well as a wave pool and Flow Rider surfing area. There is a lazy river as well that we are looking forward to trying out- while it had been opened to start with, they ended up closing it a bit early.
For adults, there are swim up bars as well, and there are quite a few food and beverage service areas, snack spots, and restaurants. Your family can enjoy an arcade, mini golf area, rope courses, laser tag, and much more when the park is up and fully operational. There is also a spa area for adults and one for kids, and a make-it-yourself pottery center. Visit Polka Dot Pots to paint pottery and get creative. The Oasis Kids’ Spa should open this June for the pampered peanuts in your life, and will offer manicures, pedicures, and more for the younger set. Of course, there are also souvenir shops.
The much anticipated Aquatopia Indoor Waterpark, part of the 170,000 square-foot indoor family adventure center, will also feature seven pools, 13 waterslides, and a multitude of thrilling water attractions. Uniquely designed to be unlike any other indoor waterpark in the U.S., Aquatopia will host a combination of waterpark guest favorites such as a wave pool, lazy river and FlowRider surfing simulator. Aquatopia will be situated under a Texlon transparent roofing system, which will allow guests to tan indoors at a comfortable 84-degrees, year-round. On the drier side, Arcadia Family Adventure Center will offer two levels of themed activities including more than 100 video, interactive and ticket redemption games, ropes courses and rock climbing for adults and kids, mini-golf, black light laser tag, and an arts and crafts center.
Once complete, Camelback Lodge will feature 453 guest suites offered in 24 suite configurations ranging from loft fireplace suites, one and two bedroom executive suites, and family suites with bunk beds, gift shops, adult and kids spas, three sit-down restaurants, including the ski-in/ski-out Trails End Pub & Grill near the Stevenson Chair Lift. The Lodge will also appeal to business travelers, event and wedding planners with more than 20,000 square feet of flexible meeting and event space with an incredible panorama of Camelback Mountain.
Camelback Lodge & Aquatopia Indoor Waterpark is located at Camelback Resort in Tannersville, Pa. The heart of the Pocono Mountains draws visitors from New York, New Jersey, and Philadelphia with 28 million people living within 180 miles of this vacation destination.

Wow this place looks amazing and so fun! My family would have a blast here!
Looks like so much fun!
This place has been bombarding us with TV commercials for probably close to two months, in the Hudson Valley of NY! I’ve been curious about it and was happy to find your blog post. I am amazed that most of it is not even completed. It sounds like it would be expensive for a family stay to me. Have to recoup all those construction costs!
oh cool camelback now has a waterpark!!!!
and a wave pool!!
I’ll have to find out how far that is from us since we’re near PA now and Fred’s parents live up there! I know my boys would love having a water park so close! I can’t wait to see the resort as soon as it’s done.
Wow!! My girls would LOVE it here!! I am going to check this out.
Wow my kids would go crazy here, so much to do! We love going to water parks in the summer time, but never have been to one like this that is indoors. Very cool!
This park sounds like a blast! I know my boys & grandkids would love it. It’s too bad it’s so far away. I’m keeping it on my list for if we ever get up that way!
