CIRQUE DE LA SYMPHONIE PERFORMS WITH THE RHODE ISLAND PHILHARMONIC POPS
Francisco Noya, conductor
The Providence Performing Arts Center
October 30, 2010 at 7P
The Providence Performing Arts Center and the Rhode Island Philharmonic are pleased to announce that Georgia-based CIRQUE DE LA SYMPHONIE will bring the magic of the circus (“cirque”) to the Theatre on Saturday, October 30, 2010 at 7P. Children are more than welcome to wear their Halloween costumes to the show!
Conductor Francisco Noya said, “We are very excited to present CIRQUE here in Providence. Orchestras across the country rave about the amazing skills of the CIRQUE performers and how much the audience loves them. This concert will be fantastic for everyone in the family, and we look forward to a very full house!”
CIRQUE DE LA SYMPHONIE is a visual and auditory experience, combining the artistry of aerial dancers and acrobats and the “stunning” (Providence Journal) Rhode Island Philharmonic POPS. The CIRQUE performers, who the Orange County Registrar called “an amazing troupe of acrobats,” include:
Alexander Strelstov, a Russian aerial artist; he soars out over the audience with the help of aerial silks, which allow a performer to twist and spiral in and out of positions, and also performs with spinning cubes.
Christine Van Loo, an acrobatic gymnast who performs on the aerial hoop, the duo trapeze, and aerial silks.
Vladimir Tsarkov, who mixes mime and juggling feats.
Elena Tsarkova, known as “The Lady in White;” she combines contortion, balance, and dance.
The artists’ performances are uniquely adapted to stage accommodations shared with the symphony, and are choreographed to the music arrangement provided by the conductor, ensuring that every show they perform is unique.
