I participated in this My Moment for Elmers Bag It Forward campaign, a program that helps kids who need it get the school supplies they need. As a teacher, and as a mother- you know I have to love this.
Kids will feel better, more empowered, and more prepared if they have all the things they need for the year. They won’t be comparing themselves to other kids in the class, or worrying about what they DON’T have- they can just focus on learning.
We volunteer at a local shelter, and I knew who I wanted to give our bags to. I had bought most of Kamikaze’s supplies already, and gave a few things to the shelter- but I don’t have a whole lot of disposable income- so I did what I could, and that was it. The ability to give 2 kids just what they needed, made me feel thrilled. I asked a brother and sister duo I have gotten close to for their “list” of supplies, and I went for those in particular. I also picked up crayons for Kamikaze, because I am a terrible mom and forgot them, LOL.
It was a nice feeling to be able to get the kids just what they needed- and I want to thank Elmers for that. They both needed Glue Sticks– and I also got them a few extras, like Disappearing Purple Glue Sticks, and the traditional Glue All, for just about every project that will be done this year.
Here is a bit more info on Bag it Forward-
“Elmer’s is teaming up with bloggers across the country to kickoff the Bag it Forward movement. These bloggers are gathering school supply bags for families, organizations and teachers, and encouraging others to join in. In addition, Elmer’s is donating one product for every “Like” on the Elmer’s Facebook page to the Kids In Need foundation, and an additional item for every view the video on the Kids In Need tab receives.
Join us in the #BagItForward movement and give someone you know a bag of school supplies! Together we can make a difference.”
I hope that you guys can help out in any way that you can as well- from a carton of pencils to a whole backpack- we can all do a little something, I again, want to thank Elmers for letting me do more then I would have been able to do on my own- sincerely.
From July 25 through Sept. 1, for each “like” on the Elmer’s Facebook page, the company will donate a product to the Foundation’s national network of free stores, where teachers from disadvantaged schools can “shop” for free for school supplies. Products to be donated include a variety of glues, foam board, project supplies and pencil sharpeners. If you already like the page, we’ll make a contribution on your behalf, but you can donate again by watching a video on the Elmer’s Kids In Need Facebook tab and sharing it with your friends and family. ( You are going to “like” them, right? It’s a small thing, for a good cause!)
Elmer’s is a Upromise partner and that every time you purchase an Elmer’s or Krazy Glue product with your registered drug or grocery card, a percentage of your purchase will be put into your Upromise account. More information can be found here – http://www.elmers.com/about/
This project has been compensated as part of a social shopper insights study for Elmer’s #bagitforward #collectivebias. All opinions are my own.
How awesome that you donated 2 bags! I know they’ll be appreciated!
This is so great. I know HOW much it can cost to send kids back to school. I’m sure this not only brought a smile to many children’s faces but their parents as well
I think this is such a great idea. I love seeing the kids faces light up when they receive these.
This really is such a neat project. Very cool that you were able to help out and pick up those crayons all at the same time ;D
I love this! We participated for the first time too!
We donated to a special needs classroom and threw a back to school party and made sure to invite kids we knew could use the supplies….gave out 21 back packs stuffed with supplies.
Was very humbling to see grateful faces.
This is really an awesome program. I just learned about it this year. I donated to a student and a classroom 😀
