I am sure you all know, or not new readers, I recently had to get a new computer. My previous one did a not so nice thing and we almost lost alot off important files. A whole lot, to say the least. We should have been using a service like Carbonite . Carbonite works as a backup service for your computer, helping computer backup those files so the next time your computer does a not so nice thing and crashes/dies/ get accidentally drop kicked after locking up again. You won’ t lose so much data.
Most backup software needs an external hard drive or maybe a few flash drives or dvdr’s or something along those lines but Carbonite connects to their secure server whenever you are connected to the internet and backs up your data while you use the computer for other reasons, like reading my awesome blog 😉 hint hint. Your data is backed up completely securely and safely in remote locations. It is also accessible by just about any device that can connect to the internet, including smart phones, ipods, ipads and of course other computers. Another interesting usage of this service is the ability to pull up important documents from the road. Let’s say you are on vacation and left the dog home with a friend. Your best friend just lost your dog and has no idea what do to. Solution, pull up your old documents at the next rest stop, email pictures of your pooch to your ex-friend and have them go on a neighborhood wide search for your four legged compadre. With some thought I am sure you can think of at least ones where you wish you could have had access to your home computer files from the road or work. Carbonite can help.
Carbonite is running a promotion where if you enter code: BLOGAD you get two free months with purchase. Enjoy 🙂
I back my things up on two external hard drives. All the kids pictures, and everything from writing to scrapbook kits and projects are on there. And if that’s not enough I even back them up on CD’s!!! Maybe this would be better 😉
I so need to do this. Hubs is always on me about backing stuff up. I figure hey he is a computer engineer he would be able to find my stuff, right? Well probably not… Perhaps I should go and look at this site now ;D
CL got me an external backup and it’s not working very well. I just might need to check this out!
