I am not sure if you realize this, but tablets are great not only for checking email, surfing the web, and productivity stuff for work, but also for keeping kids busy. All those wonderful touch screen games like Angry Birds and Fruit Ninja are a great way to quiet down a child. Little Man loves fruit ninja.
Spin Master and Disney teamed up to bring play time to a new level knowing this. In comes in The new Disney Cars 2 AppMATes. These toys pair with the AppMATes app from iTunes.
The app is a game where you control the car and race and smash about in various environments and Cars 2 characters. These work exactly as you would expect them to. There are a few caveats.
1) They work best with iPad 2 tablets. I have heard there are some problems with the iPad 1 units, so be aware.
2) Take your case off before playing.
3) If your kids are not gentle please be careful.
Other then these the toys are really neat. The car interacts with the app as expected and the game is fun. Its almost like playing digital matchbox cars.
As of now there is a limited number of characters from Cars 2 including single packs of Mater and McQueen and double packs as well.

This looks really cool! Too bad we have and Ipad 1, bummer. Little Bit would have loved this.
How cute is that???? I may the last person left in the world without an iPad…. but golly gee I shore like ta read about those newfangled gadets and all the neato stuff ya kin do wiff ’em! LOL

Liam got these the other day and can’t put them down! He’s been on the ipad almost non-stop – they’re such a cute idea and the app seems to be addicting even for hubby.

I know a little family that is addicted to angry birds so the kids would probably love this one.
