Ok all, lets take a moment to talk about something no one wants to. Life Insurance. No one wants to think about this portion of their lives. But it is necessary for any parents. It would be horrible to leave your family early with nothing more then the sorrow in their heart. On average a funeral costs about $10,000. I would say at bare minimum you would want this much coverage.
Please- I am not an expert and I am talking with just common sense, but I do think you should talk to a professional. Get some life insurance quotes and figure out what works best or you. I would also suggest discussing this with family members and friends. This is something most adults deal with and talking about it with someone you trust might make you feel better. Giving you a clearer thought process when actually going through data and making decisions.
If you are single…..well congrats to you. You should still at least cover your bottom on your departure. : P
No one wants to be left holding that kind of bill- and no one wants to leave anyone holding it.
So, overall- pleasant thoughts? Maybe not so much. But for all of us, we need to think and plan for the “just in case”. And you better believe I have some, and so does the hubs. Just in case- though I hope to God we don’t need it anytime soon!
I sell insurance as part of financial planning. Sadly, most people are severely underinsured. Life insurance is generally pennies on the dollar…get a quote!
I’d say you need at least $15,000 these days. Of course areas do vary, but we just did a bare bones burial of my grandmother. Her funeral cost over $10,000 and sadly it’s all she left, so we had to pay the other $4,000 out of pocket. It left nothing for her bills either.
Prices have gone up, and sadly there isn’t much choice.
