Smokey The Fire Truck- Find Fun under your tree!

Today we are taking a look at one of Matchbox’s latest entries in the Big Rig Buddies line, Smokey the Firetruck. Smokey is a fire truck who transforms into a robot, shoots water (very soft foam balls), talks, sings and even dances.
Smokey is based on real fire truck designs, so he is pretty close to the real thing when in fire truck mode. But when he is in robot mode the toy comes to life with his dancing and singing. There is one other mode for when you want to shoot his water cannon and that is when he is fully upright. The best part of the water cannon is there is no water, only blue foam balls that are soft and do not hurt when accidentally shot at a sibling or anyone else, which is a nice touch. I’d still not let them aim at your TV, LOL.

I really enjoy how Smokey interacts with Little Man and how he can still be a fire truck when need be.
There are a few points which need to be addressed. Number one, there is a small plastic piece that can be easily missed while removing Smokey from his packaging that will prevent him from transforming into his water cannon mode, so keep an eye out for a small plastic pin shape which is about the size of a matchbox car and the width of a finger and grey in color. Also Smokey is an indoor only toy, no sand or actual water. This was confusing for little man, why can’t Smokey shoot real water if he is a fire truck? Answer is simple- because he is a robot fire truck, and unless you don’t want him to be a robot anymore, he can’t play in the water.

Overall, Smokey is very fun and an amazing toy to see your kids play with. I am just waiting for the ‘My Buddy’ and ‘Kid Sister’ that will have intelligent conversations with kids. The next Smokey very well might.
