Paris is considered by many to be the most romantic city on the planet. Every year couples flock to “The City of Light” to soak up all the romance that Paris has to offer. Due to its legendary reputation as a city for lovers, many guys decide to surprise their girlfriends with marriage proposals on a trip to Paris. It is certainly a wonderful city to pop the question with a vibrant culture of love surrounding you. The problem with Paris is not that it lacks amazing spots to propose, it’s that there are so many! You’ve prepared for the big moment, you’ve found amazing, luxury accommodation, booked cheap flights to Paris, planned the night or day to do it, but imagine if you then got stuck on the best place to do it! That’s why I’ve put together a guide to the three best spots to propose in Paris. Check out the suggestions below when planning to ask the big question:
Pont des Arts
There are many magical bridges with spectacular views in Paris, but none of them offers as much charm and romance as the fantastic Pont des Arts. It is a wooden bridge next to the Louvre only used by pedestrians, so it is quiet enough to work for a proposal setting. This bridge offers spectacular views of the Parisian skyline, including the Eiffel Tower.
The best way to work a proposal here would be at sunset. With the golden rays of the setting sun lighting up the view of the city, a man can drop to his knee with confidence that he will receive that, “Yes!” that is so important.
After the proposal is accepted, make sure to seal the moment by putting a lock engraved with your names on the wire railing. The key is then thrown into the Seine. This is a wonderfully romantic tradition that hundreds of couples have participated in over the years.
Jardin du Palais Royal
There are many romantic spots in Paris to choose for a proposal, but many of them will be crowded and noisy. It is tough to find a quiet, romantic setting in the city. For those who want a beautifully intimate setting in which to propose, the beautiful gardens of the Palais Royal are perfect. Blocked off by high walls that down out the noise of the city, there is a beautiful hush in the gardens that is only broken by the tinkling of the fountains.
There are many benches throughout the gardens that offer perfect opportunities to sit your girlfriend down and pop the question. Surrounded by flowers and romantic ambiance, this location is sure to lead to a successful outcome.
Ile de la Cité
This is the oldest and most picturesque part of Paris. This is the spot to propose for those who want the backdrop to be full of historical splendor. This is the area that is full of monuments like Notre Dame Cathedal, Sainte Chapelle and the Pont Neuf.
There are many great spots to make a marriage proposal in Ile de la Cité. One of the most romantic ways to do it is by popping the question at one of the many charming sidewalk cafes that are found in this area. There are also a number of delightful parks that make good settings for proposals available in this district.
Like Carmen says, forget the proposal-send me to Paris.
I agree with the above – No proposal just take me there 🙂
I agree with Lucy ! Just take me there! 🙂
Just take me to Paris! No proposal needed 🙂
Oh, how romantic would this be! You have me swooning 🙂
