Summer is upon us, and much of the country is sweltering away in weather hitting
triple digits. There’s still plenty of time to find a beach or a pool and cool off while
daydreaming about your next winter vacation. Thoughts of ski villages, fresh snow and
hot chocolate by the fireplace seem strange right now, but at least your imagination
will keep cool! However, if you do have designs on taking a winter vacation with your
family, the time to plan is now. And if you’ve never experienced a winter trip to a cabin,
now’s your chance to book early and get yourself a great deal. Taking your family to a
picturesque cabin in the woods may not mean five-star dinners and in-room massages,
but there are tons of benefits to this relaxed yet truly enjoyable option. Here are five
reasons why you should rent a cabin for your next family winter vacation.
First off, taking a winter vacation in a cabin will give your family the chance to
experience true peace and quiet. You won’t find this at a resort, with hundreds of people
on each floor. You’ve got to get off the beaten path, and a cabin puts you right in the
middle of, well, nothing at all. For a stressed out family that could be just what the doctor
ordered. Instead of crowds and noise you’ll be surrounded by chirping birds and the
breeze rushing through tall trees. You can do whatever you want, whenever you want
to, without being bothered by anyone. That’s tough to find in this day and age, and could
truly be priceless.
Not to be outdone by the chain hotels, you could find a winter cabin that still includes
some luxurious elements amongst its country charm. Depending on where you look,
some mountain cabins will include large, elegant soaking tubs, outdoor hot tubs and
large, wood burning fireplaces. You could even find a cabin with a state-of-the-art home
theater and surround sound system, perfect for family movie night with nothing but the
heavy snow falling in the background.
A cabin is also a great option if you have pets. Those vacations of a week or longer
are great, but it can be a real struggle leaving the family pet behind. If your kids are
young, they may not understand why their furry friend can’t come along. And if you book
a cabin for your next vacation, your pet will be more than welcome. Most cabins allow
pets of all sizes, which means your dog can run around in the snow right by your side.
So you’ve done Disney World, you’ve done the all-inclusive resort, and you’ve done
the cruise. What if you want something a little simpler, where the focus truly stays on
quality time? Then a cabin vacation will be your ideal choice. Most cabins you’ll rent
have full kitchens, so you can enjoy cooking together. You could choose cabins that
don’t have internet, to truly have a rustic experience. Leave the smartphones and
portable game systems at home, and instead enjoy a night playing games or telling
stories. The family will be closer for it.
Finally, get yourself a cabin this winter to experience nature like you’ve never seen
it before. You can have untouched nature right outside your door. That means ice fishing, cross
country skiing, hiking and much more. It’s the ideal choice for lovers of the great
outdoors. And with no neighbors around, your kids can be as loud as they want.
We stayed in a cabin when we went to Yosemite. It is one of my favorite vacation trips and was very relaxing. If we went away without the kids, it could also be romantic.
