All Hallow’s Eve has come and gone, with both a Franken-Storm and a creepy shudder, or maybe just a shiver from a lack of heat. Either way now its time to start sharing in the Holiday Season with Christmas Movies!
A personal favorite of mine has always been The Muppet Christmas Carol. There are a ton of interpretations of the Dickens classic, but this one is the Muppet-est and one of the most kid friendly. This is the Dickens classic The Christmas Carol told with all your favorite Muppets including Kermit, Miss Piggy and of course Gonzo and Fozzy Bear. Kermit plays the part of Bob Cratchit and Miss Piggy Emily Cratchit. The all important part of A Christmas Carol is the role of Scrooge which is played by Michael Caine, who does a great job of it. There are songs and music abound as well by Paul Williams to lighten the mood even in the spooky Ghosts of Christmas future scenes.
The cast has worked on everything from Monsters Inc, Frank Oz to the director, Brain Henson who worked on Farscape. Giving viewers a star studed experience.
To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the film Disney has released for the first the Blu-ray edition of the movie which includes a ton of extras, high-definition audio and video and a 2 disc combo pack which includes the Blu-ray, DVD, and digital copy of the movie. This feature will be released on November 6 2012 everywhere fine films are sold.
The film’s run time is 89 minutes and has a ton of extras. Including an intermission when the movie is paused, well worth pausing at least once by the way. Audio Commentary by Kermit, Rizzo the rat and Gonzo to name a few, a blooper reel and some unique behind the scenes features.
I love The Muppet Christmas Carol. The movie came out when I was in the fifth grade and I’ve been a huge fan of it ever since. My kids haven’t seen it yet and I’m planning to purchase it for a Christmas present. The Muppets will always be my favorite entertainers.
I used to love this movie!
Yes a classic it is! I have to get this one too.
Such a classic! Now I need to go find this movie for the holidays with our family!
Ok, I have to admit I have never watched the muppets. looks like a good dvd though.
This one is a classic!
This was one of my favorite Christmas movies! I wore out the VHS tape we had so I haven’t seen it in a long time.
