Nestled in the Catskill Mountains of New York State is fun and family friendly, all inclusive Riedlbauer’s Resort. This German themed property is located on 70 acres of scenic land in Green County. A perfect getaway for all seasons, Reidlebauer’s Resort is all about family.
The resort is German themed, with the food and décor all as German as the name. There is often live music, and many times, it is German. German music plays over the speakers from breakfast to after dinnertime. Costumed dancers are known to show up now and again to preform authentic dances- we were privileged enough to see a dance troupe from the area while we were there. Many of the guests are native Germans, or have parents who are. Some speak the language, many understand it, and all enjoy singing traditional songs after dinner and dessert.
Many of the guests have been returning year after year, season after season. Children grow up and bring their own children to vacation or spend the weekend. The friendly staff treats everyone like family members- which in some cases, it must feel like, since they have spent so many years together. Being new to the community, I thought we would feel like outsiders. I could not have been more wrong- we were immediately taken into the fold and treated by both staff and guests as if we were all old buddies. We ate family style with others, which I thought I would not like, but very much enjoyed. It added to the community atmosphere. My son took a girlfriend and ate with her at an adjoining table. This did not thrill me 😉
Often, one will read reviews stating that they “felt like family” or were treated as such. Having been to many, many hotels and resorts, I can honestly say that no place has this been more true then at Reidlebauers. It was like spending the weekend at a favorite aunt’s house, where you are a little bit spoiled and your only job is to enjoy yourself.
Like “Cheers”, everybody knew your (and everyone else’s) name. They sang and danced together, ate together, and enjoyed the evening festivities together.
The resort is home to many interesting events and activities- Halloween costume parties, the Barbarian Blitz (you know you want to Click HERE and see what that is!) and of course, the New Years Eve party, which they are still taking reservations for. For fun, fantastic (home cooked!) food, and celebration in a family friendly atmosphere, why not ring in the new year at Riedlebauer’s?
