Shopping for hardworking moms during the holiday season can seem almost impossible–not necessarily because she already has everything, but because you want to give a gift that will really be memorable. People who work hard deserve to be rewarded for their struggles, and nobody works harder than mom. Not just any old gift will do the trick for her. If you’re drawing a blank on what to pick up for the moms in your life this holiday season, consider some of these great gift ideas.

Is mom into the finer things in life? If so, she is most likely one who enjoys a fine glass of wine from time to time. The health benefits of red wine have been touted by doctors recently, but wines have long been a favorite beverage for those who enjoy a bit of luxury now and again. Consider buying her a membership to the International Wine of the Month club for a new pair of wines every month starting at under $30 a month plus shipping costs. This is the perfect gift that keeps on giving for the mom with a discerning palate.

Many of us need a daily caffeine fix to fuel our brains and bodies for the Herculean tasks to come, and this goes double for many working moms. Whether her fuel of choice is coffee, tea, yerba mate, or any other drink, there are plenty of delicious options out there that make for great gifts. Specialty coffee and tea shops carry some of the most rare and delicious blends of beans and leaves that she or you will ever find. Take a look through the cupboard to get an idea of what she usually drinks, and talk to some local merchants about finding something to suit her tastes. It will surely be enjoyed and appreciated.

If there is one thing every mom needs and appreciates, it’s a day off. Women who balance careers and family life are busier than you can imagine, constantly under stress and usually under-appreciated. Some of the best gifts for these super moms are things like day spa gift vouchers–redeemable for a break from stress and time she chooses. Spending a day at the spa for rest and relaxation is often exactly what mom needs, especially after the hectic holiday season. Help her get those knots out of her neck and back with a therapeutic massage, or relieve those tired eyes with a healing facial treatment. Everyone needs a little time to rest once in a while.

The only thing harder than shopping for the man who has everything is shopping for the woman who does everything. Give some thought to these ideas and come up with some of your own as well. Think about what she enjoys in her rare moments of spare time and cater your shopping ideas in that direction. A free dinner at one of her favorite restaurants or a horse-back riding lesson might be the gift she’ll remember forever, and in the end, that’s what you really want.

All kidding aside, I like the hand made gifts, or maybe something as simple as an hour to myself. Or maybe the kids actually clean their rooms?! (miracle!?) Tea too. That’s a good idea, let me forward this post to my husband in 3, 2, 1, ! ๐Ÿ™‚
