Travel is a great way to see the world, have a new and exciting experience, and really take some time off to bond with your family and those that are most important to you. Travel also, however, takes a lot of effort. Especially if you’ve got a big family, there can be a lot to account for when you’re getting ready to take a big exciting trip, and it can really seem to be a little bit overwhelming when you’re the one in charge of making sure that everything goes off without a hitch. From planning activities and booking flights to packing up and actually getting everyone to the airport on time, there’s a lot that goes into just about any vacation. When you’re doing this whole song and dance with a toddler or two in tow, you know that there are going to have to be some special considerations made. Those kids right in between the ages of two and four often demand the most patience and special attention, and if you do this right you can save yourself some serious grief. Few things are tougher to deal with than an upset toddler, but when you can keep things under control from the get-go, it’s a lot easier to have a relaxing time and enjoy the vacation that you know you deserve. We’ll talk about some of the best do’s and don’ts that you can observe when you’re traveling with your toddler(s) so that you can avoid those troublesome tantrums and make sure your R&R levels are kept at a nice and even keel.
If you’ve got toddlers, then plans are probably something with which you’re pretty familiar. Your vacation is no exception. When you’re coming up with your plan and itinerary, make sure you include things that will keep the toddlers appeased. Whether this means day care or naptime, there are a lot of ways you can make sure your little ones are kept nice and happy. Toddlers need a lot of rest, so it’s best to avoid activities that go on all day or are going to really tire your little ones out without giving them a chance to rest and recharge.
It’s also really smart to make sure you’re keeping snacks and food on hand. Little ones need pretty constant nourishment, and when a little kid starts to get unruly, a delicious snack is a great way to quiet them down. Make sure you don’t just appease your little ones with a bunch of sugar, however, as this is a great way to overload them and cause them to crash down the line. There are a lot of great ways to keep your kids in line, whether you’re staying in some apartments in Rome or a hotel in Manhattan. It’s not hard to make sure your toddlers are taken care of, and if you’ve got the right strategies in mind, it can even be downright easy.
Good tips. My toddler is not a fun travel companion so I’ll take anything I can get.
This post comes at perfect timing. I needed to read this because my toddler is so curious and active, but traveling is tough!
