Spain continues to be one of the most popular holiday destinations in Europe. A recent
study showed that Spain is the third most visited country in the world, just behind France
and the USA, and the popularity of this destination has held strong over the last few
decades.
As 2013 approaches, more and more people are starting to plan their holiday for next year.
With some great prices on early-bird plane tickets to be had, we explore why it is worth considering Spain
as a holiday destination.
Sun-seekers rejoice
With places like Malaga in mainland Spain enjoying average summer temperatures
of around 25C and low rainfall, it’s no wonder why so many Brits choose to flee the
disappointingly drab UK weather in favour of sunnier Spanish climes. With golden sandy
beaches and glorious weather, Spain is a sun-seeker’s paradise.
Foodie heaven
In popular resort destinations like Majorca, just about every cuisine known to man can be found, so a holiday
in Spain is sure to cater to even the fussiest of eaters. However, for people who are more
inclined to sample local wares and give their taste buds a treat, Spain is the place to go
for great food. Barcelona is one of the best places in the world when it comes to tapas and
tortillas and delicious fresh seafood is in abundance in coastal resorts across the country.
Buzzing nightlife
Whether holidaying solo, as a couple, a family or a group of friends, Spain caters to all
kinds of tastes when it comes to nightlife. Spain’s resort hotels feature some fantastic
entertainment for the whole family, from discos for the kids to quizzes for the grown-
ups. Parts of Spain, like Ibiza, are steeped in dance music
culture and these areas continue to draw in seasoned hedonists in search of big beats and
sandy beaches. Festivals are also becoming a big draw, with events like Benicassim pulling
in younger crowds who take advantage of cheap flights to enjoy live music in the sunshine.
Culture club
Spain is famed for its links with the arts world and, over the years, has been home to
artists such as Joan Miro, Pablo Picasso and Salvador Dali. Galleries and museums are in
abundance in Spain so, for those looking to soak up some culture alongside the sunshine,
this is the place to be.
Jet2 offers cheap flights to Spain to help kick start a holiday without breaking the budget, which is all the more reason to say “

My husband sister went to Spain last year and she loved that she even convinced us to go. My sister lives in Holland so I go there quite frequently so a stop to Spain would not be so far. Thanks for sharing. Love, all the travel destination ideas.
