I have heard a lot of wonderful things about SodaStream, but I must admit that I was pretty skeptical about if it was going to work or not! Let me tell you, that it is above and beyond my wildest thoughts. It works absolutely wonderfully.
About SodaStream:
SodaStream is a Soda Maker for your house. It gives you the ability to take tap water, carbonate it, and then create the soft drink or sparkling flavored water that you crave in your own home. Not to mention that this is a great way for you to save money, as well as help protect the environment.
I received the Jet Home Soda Maker. Included with the soda maker was:
- 1 CO2 Carbonater
- 1 Jet SodaStream Machine
- Sodamix Taste Sampler
How Does It Work:
- Fill the bottle with cold water to the fill line.
- Screw the bottle into the SodaStream Machine.
- Press the button on the top repeatedly until you hear 3 loud buzzes.
- Then you can unscrew the bottle from the machine and add your flavoring.
My Thoughts:
I was completely impressed at how the taste was exactly the same as what I buy at the store or when we’re out and about. I must admit, that I really am not too much of a pop drinker anymore :(. Being as I was pregnant, then breastfeeding, and then I repeated the process over. But, I absolutely love the caffeine free pop, as well as the Crystal Light Varieties. My other favorite was the flavoring for the sparkling water. My almost 3 year old loved the flavored water almost as much as I did.
My husband however is a big pop drinker, and let me tell you, he was completely impressed with how the pop tasted the exact same as what he was used to. He was extremely skeptical when I was talking about the machine, as well as when we have seen the commercials. He tried Coke, Dr.Pepper, and Root Beer, and didn’t have a single complaint (which at times seems rare 🙂 ) .
There are many features that I was a complete fan of. I absolutely love how many pops you can get from just one bottle of flavoring. Seriously 25-50 servings is amazing. I don’t have the room, nor would I want to have that many pops on hand at a time. I also really love the fact that you can have many flavors on hand at a time. It is convenient to have something for everyone, and know that you aren’t wasting anything because you only have to make a little at a time.

Thank you for this review on SodaStream! I was considering getting a machine for my college student as a gift to help her safe on costs, but I was a bit skeptical. Your review is great and lets me know that SodaStream is indeed the real deal!! thanks!
Almost forgot – when you change the cartridges, look for a small gasket that fits on top of the cartridge. It’s easy to overlook or lose it, and if you do, the cartridge won’t fit snugly so the CO2 will leak instead of going into the water. I lost mine, but found a replacement at a hardware store.
I’ve had mine for a couple of years now and use it all the time – not for flavored sodas, but just for sparkling water. It works great, I don’t have to lug club soda from the store, no wasteful empty bottles to dispose of, and I never run out. Love it.
I purchased Soda Stream in 12/2012 and I love it. I am not crazy about SodaStream’s flavors. But I can buy real pepsi, root beer, etc on Amazon. It is the same stuff used in fountain machines.
Thanks for the tip about using the real syrups like restaurants use; my BF just opened a pizza place and we have a fountain machine and the boxes. I’ll have to see about a box of Dr Pepper and a tapper for home use.
I tried the SodaStream and ended up taking it back. There weren’t enough soda flavors for me that I truly loved, and I guess there must have been something wrong with the water flavoring that came with my kit: what I had was a very bitter, sour flavoring that made the water awful. A little sweetener of some kind would have been great, but as it was, I just wasn’t impressed.
I’m trying to cut down on soda, anyway…most of the time, what I drink is Diet Coke, but I was hoping I could find a flavored water alternative…when I tasted it with that flavoring…that was a deal-breaker.
I’m glad to know you liked yours so much: maybe there really was something wrong with the kit they gave me.
Danielle reviewed this new kit- I do have an older version, but my husband loves it.
