Well, we have been wishing and hoping for snow for over 2 years now! We might get a little here and a little there, but I am happy to say that we finally got snow. Not only did we get snow, but we got 16+ inches of snow, and the possibility of more snow within the next couple of days.

Both of my daughters have really not seen much snow (sad to say, since we live in the Midwest), so they were a little apprehensive about playing in it, but finally were ready to get out and play all that we could.

I remember when I was a kid, we would always make snow ice cream when we got a big snow. I was so happy to get a big snow so that I could share this tradition with my 2 girls.

So, if you’d like to join in our tradition, you only need 3 ingredients:

  • 8 Cups of Snow
  • 1 Can Sweet & Condensed Milk
  • 1 tsp. vanilla

snow ice cream

Go outside and get yourself 8 cups of snow. I don’t pack it, I just guess a little. (If the snow is really wet sometimes I throw in a little extra). After you have your 8 cups of snow you just add your can of sweet & condensed milk, as well as your teaspoon of vanilla (I always use Mexican Vanilla, it’s much better).

After everything is in the bowl, you just stir until you have it all mixed up. I have occasionally used a mixer, but I like it much better when you just mix it by hand.

**My daughter decided she wanted Strawberry Ice cream, so we definitely added some strawberry powder to make her ice cream how she wanted it. It was really good.

I hope that you enjoy snow ice cream as much as we did!

Comments

  1. I did this pretty much on a daily basis every winter when I was a kid and I’ve somehow survived to adulthood, so I wouldn’t worry too much about the pollution. ๐Ÿ™‚ There are probably more chemicals in Ranch dressing and Splenda.

  2. Alicia Keen says

This makes a lot…is it okay to freeze leftovers?

  3. I’m not too worried about the pollution. Depending on where you live it’s not as big of a deal. Besides, if it’s in the snow it’s already in the air you’re breathing daily. Just enjoy it! Part of the experience is enjoying the snow!

  4. Fun and easy! But like Anne said it’s probably better if you have a snow cone maker because you shouldn’t eat snow because of the pollution in the air.

  5. The thing is pollution , chemicals in the rain, snow. Might just want to shave some ice.
