All pet lovers know that owning a pet can bring joy to a household. However, households that include
pets are often known for having unwanted odors from either the pets themselves or from cleaning
chemicals that are used. Following these three tips will help any home to smell as if it is free of pets.
First, pets should be regularly groomed. For dogs, this includes brushing, haircuts and bathing. For
cats, this includes brushing and possibly bathing depending on the cat. Pet stores and some mass
merchandisers sell soaps especially formulated for a pet’s coat. Pets should be brushed regularly;
typically, at least once a week is recommended. Brushing will prevent fur from becoming matted and
holding on to unpleasant odors. In addition, dogs should be professionally groomed every few months.
Second, the home should be regularly cleaned. When pet hair and dander begin to build up on
upholstery and carpets, they will cause unwelcome odors. In addition, a pet, no matter how beloved,
occasionally has an accident on the carpet or linoleum. These areas should be thoroughly cleaned as
soon as they are noticed. Linoleum and many other hard surfaces can be safely cleaned with bleach
although the area should afterwards be thoroughly rinsed with water before allowing the pet in the area.
Specialty upholstery cleaner, when used carefully according to the directions, can be used to remove
pet odors from chairs, rugs, drapes and other soft surfaces.
Finally, pet owners will definitely want to consider adding air purifiers to their homes. Some may
only need one in their bedrooms to aid their breathing while sleeping. However, others will prefer
to have air purifiers in the main rooms of their homes, such as the living room. Not only can an air
purifier remove allergens such as pet dander from the air, but also it can remove the chemical odors
found after cleaning. This means that after bleach or some other harsh chemical is used to remove pet
odors from the home, the smell can quickly be taken from the air. One excellent option is CurbSide
Air, which offers numerous solutions for pet owners. Their many air purifiers can be found at http://

Owning a pet does not automatically relegate the owner to living in a smelly home. Properly caring for
one’s animal and keeping up on regular house cleaning can decrease odors dramatically. Air purifiers,
such as those sold by CurbSide Air, will further eliminate unwelcome scents.
We have a shaggy dog and we really do have to clean much more often but she is worth it! Having an air purifier is also helpful.
All good tips; thanks Sam 🙂

Two are big outside dogs and the other bugger is a little inside dog.
Man he can mess and shed hair!
Little rubbish.
