When is luggage actually an instrument of death for arthropods? When that luggage is Thermal Strike. Thermal Strike is a new FAA and TSA compliant luggage line available in 20 inch carry on and 24 inch stow away sizes. On the surface, they look like sleek protective luggage- but inside is hidden an infrared heater, which when plugged in, brings the content of your baggage to 140 degrees. This temperature is then held for 2 1/2 hours, which will kill bed bugs in any part of their disgusting life cycle. After this bug baking party is over, it is safe to open your luggage and put your clothing away without the fear of bringing home unwanted pests.

hard luggageBed bugs might not be in the news every night anymore, but with just one pregnant bug an infestation can take root. An infestation could start with your bed or closet, but quickly spread to your walls, floors, and even your bathroom. It is absolutely disgusting to think of these blood suckers living in your most intimate of places, making a meal out of you and your kids in your sleep. So why not keep them out every way you can? The number one way for bed bugs to be introduced to a home is by hitching a ride. Make that ride end with a cookout instead of a blood feast.

luggageThe luggage itself is wheeled, and with the hard outside shell is my new go-to bag. The added benefit of the infra-red heater is icing on the cake. The wheels move freely, the handle is the perfect height. The only drawback to the bag is, its interior is a bit smaller then expected, which means one less pair of jeans. It also has no place to zip in toiletries, which all my other bags have, so that was odd to me. However- instead of packing another pair of jeans and having to use a toiletry bag, you are sure not to pack an infestation, which is a pretty good trade off in my book.

zippered luggageOne of you can win a Protect-A-Bed BugLock Mattress Encasement (ARV $49.99-89.99, dependent upon size) and further protect your home.
