Summer time is here- maybe not officially, but the weather says otherwise. Keep your kids moving and active this summer, and not parked in front of the TV, with these enticing toys.

dry erase helmetThe Wipeout Dry Erase Helmets not only protects your child from head injury, but encourages creativity and individuality by allowing them to customize and design their own helmets with a set of assorted neon dry erase markers and stencils (included in packaging), or draw freehand. This will also make them want to wear their helmets without having to beg or threaten, as you may find yourself doing with some kids. If Junior gets bored with his or her design, let them erase it and crate a new one. Also, mom and dad- Wear a helmet yourself. Both for safety and to set a good example for your child- the best way to show your child the right path is to walk it yourself.

Wipeout Dry Erase Helmets are available in 3 different sizes, several colors, and made for kids ages 3-to-11. For more information, go to www.iWipeout.com

razor scooterRazor Scooters makes a cute scooter for smaller kids, called Kixi Kix. It has a stand-alone, three-wheel design and extra-wide, slip resistant deck for extra stability. This helps with coordination and llearn how to steer with its patented “Tilt-To-Turn” feature- however, it is a little tricky for some children to master at first, as it feels “wobbly” with the two wheels in front and only one in the back, so you will want to stand close by and help them as they learn and try it out he first few times. It comes in two colors, and has foam grips for comfort and slip resistant deck as well as study steel, aluminum, and plastic construction that will stand up to the many tumbles (and drops) it is sure to take. This is a great first time scooter for younger kids.

mini skateboard

Got a little skateboard fan on your hands? Check out this mini skateboard from Bravo Sports.

This 21 inch Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Cruiser Board is sure to be a hit with the younger kids who are not yet ready to use the larger boards that parents and older siblings might be using, but makes them feel included and can help them learn the basics. This board is shorter and slimmer for their smaller feet and strides, and has characters they recognize from TV as well. They will learn balance and confidence on this mini board before moving up to the bigger sizes- and have fun doing so.

Sbyke

Part bike, part skateboard, part scooter, all fun- the Sbyke is designed for kids (and kids at heart) ages 8 and up. You will love playing with your kids on the Sbyke, and trying to lean new tricks. It has amazing maneuverability- it’s rear-steering makes turning smoother and more responsive. To use the Sbyke, just lean in the direction you want to turn and use your feet as you would on a scooter, no need to even turn the handlebars. It takes a second to get used to, but it is wildly fun even trying to learn.

The stem of the Sbyke can accommodate most heights quickly and easily, and any weight up to 220 pounds. It is lightweight, had a skateboard like bottom, and a hand brake on the handlebars or stem. The front tire is similar to a bike tire, and you glide along like a scooter. This is one fun toy! For more information, go to http://sbyke.com/

  1. its always best to keep their noggins safe

  2. Brilliant!! Kids would love to wear a helmet they design!! Thank you for sharing!!

  3. what fun you can have with a helmet! Change it up every day and then go riding.

  4. I love the Sbyke, very cool! My son is just not into riding his bike. He loves the scooter, skateboard, and plasma car, but his bike seems to freak him out. Something like this would be fun for him!

  5. I wish my kids spent more times on bikes and such. We are active, but not like this. Running and fishing and boating are things that keep us busy over the summer.

  6. My boys both need new helmets this summer. I am going to have to look up the Wipeout helmets and see if they will work for what we have in mind.
