With all the new movies targeted at kids, there are bound to be a slew of fun toys associated with them.  Here are a few toys right out of the movies that your kids will love to play with.

monsters university toys

From Spinmaster, comes the Sulley Monster Mask allows kids to move Sulley’s face as they move their own.  The eyebrows move up and down, and mouth opens and closes as the child moves his or her mouth.  This plush mask is cute, not scary, and has a t-strap in the back to keep it on the child’s head.  Your child will love “scaring” mom and dad and that Sully will move just like they do.  ($25)

The Roll-A-Scare Race Playset lets kids and parents play with the Roll-A-Scare Monsters Assortment (comes with a Mike and Sully, extra monsters are $7) and track to see who is the fastest. Similar to the popular craze Zoobles a few years ago, these monsters pop up when they hit the magnetized racetrack bottom. The monsters race down the track that you build together, or older kids can do it themselves, and then pop open as they pass through the finish line.  There are a total of 12 monsters you can collect to mix, match, and race with this playset. ($20 for Race Playset)

My Scare Pal Plush Mike and Sully will be your child’s new best buddies, fun for toting around the house and acting out favorite scenes from the movie.  If you pull My Scare Pal Mike’s long arms and legs, he will say one of 10 quotes.  He’s funny, too, encouraging your child to help him grow and to watch his eye, since he only has one.  He is easy to clean, and has 2 AA batteries and instruction manual  included. Sully is plush and soft, and has 15 sayings and growls that will send the kids into fits of giggles to power monster city with.  Kids can  shake My Scare Pal Sulley into Tickle Mode, Scare Mode, or Sleep Time mode by literally jiggling him.  His 2 AA batteries and instruction manual are included.  ($20-$30)

PLANES toys

One of the hottest kids movies right now is Disney’s PLANES. A fun new interactive toy with a long name is the Disney Planes Wing Control Dusty Crophopper Remote Control Plane which lets kids use their arms as “wings” to direct the plane.  It’s a remote control car type of toy, but by using their arms and moving them around, they control Dusty’s movements.  This RC vehicle is unique in that it offers role-play remote control, letting the Dusty the plane move as your child does.  Your child will start the propeller with a button and move it forward, then use the two controllers on their hands– one for each wing – to tilt the wings and control the movement of the vehicle as sounds and phrases are added.  There are also 3 pre-programmed performances he will do if you or your child push that button.   ($40)

Also available from Mattel is the Disney Planes Sky Track Challenge Track Set This is a long playset, one that you and your child will have a good time setting up and using.  Not your typical racecar setup, five feet of track includes a mountain tunnel and crash zone. Also unlike traditional track sets, you have to clip planes into the tracks with special plugs, and they are able to do loops as they speed down the track.  You and your child race each other with the winner’s plane automatically diverted to the winner’s circle and trophy.  This includes only one Planes vehicle, which was a real bummer as it is a race set, and should really come with at least 2 so you can actually race them.  We also had a hard time keeping the track together, and ended up gluing it.  ($31 plus the cost of additional plane should you choose to buy one)

My son is three today, and Planes was his first ever movie in a theater – ever since he has been spreading his arms wide and “flying” through the whole house. That Dusty Crophopper plane would be a great gift for his party this weekend! Thanks for sharing!
