Migis Lodge is a great place to visit, and a wonderful place for families. In a quiet spot in central Maine, on the beautiful and serene Sebago lake, you and your family can enjoy a variety of activities such as boating, fishing, hiking, kayaking, sailing, or pretty much any other outdoor activity you can think up. Want to get away from it all, while still having all the comforts of home? Check out what Migis Lodge has to offer.
There are a variety of cabins available, depending on how many in your party. The cabin we stayed in had a pull out couch in the oversized living room as well as a large (very large) back bedroom with two beds. The living room was complete with all that one could desire in a comfy, woodsy cabin, including a working fireplace and kitchenette. With 35 cabins to choose from, all nestled in the heart of a lovely and aromatic pine forest, you and your family will have both seclusion and a sense of community here at Migis. (Think “Dirty Dancing”, but in real life. And without Patrick Swayze, LOL.)
Once you have dropped the kids off for evening activities and dinner, you can dress up and have some adult time. Cocktail hour starts your evening of relaxation off with a menu of wines and delicious cocktails. It is the perfect start to the evening. I highly suggest the specialty cocktails, one made from prosecco and fresh fruit was a fresh, light drink that went well with the accompanying assortment of cheeses and fruit available. After you have moved into the beautiful dining room that boasts huge windows that open up to a view of the trees and lake, you can begin to decide on what to choose for dinner.
Assorted relishes with olives and pickles and fresh bread are brought out first, while you make your choice. The menu changes daily, so there is always something new to try and with so many courses you are indulging in a feast. You will need to decide on a soup, such as beef vegetable with couscous or a chilled gazpacho followed by a fresh salad, some with fruit and or delicious cheeses topped with light creamy homemade dressings. There is also a few mouthwatering gourmet appetizers to check out.
These are all different and range from vegetarian type appetizers to duck, shellfish, or beef, it all depends on the day. It will also be difficult to choose an entree, from vegetarian streudles and sirloin steak with sauteed wild and white mushrooms, to sauteed chicken breast with roasted apples and brandy sauce, or even a grilled swordfish steak with a dill beurre blank. My favorite was the rack of lamb, perfectly cooked and accompanied by fresh seasoned baby vegetables and smashed new potatoes.
There is definitely something for everyone on the menu each night. And if you have too much trouble deciding you can always go with the classic Maine lobster. Finally to top it all off you can enjoy a liquor of your choice to go with the wonderful flavors of the dessert you choose. Whether its Bavarian cream pie, tiramisu, creme brulee, or a gourmet version of a s’more, you will go back to your room satisfied with this dining experience, ready to sleep and enjoy a new day in the morning at the beautiful Migis Lodge.
As I sit here and eat my plain oatmeal, I’m living through you eating lobster and such wonderful dishes–looks like a great place to visit and a good time had by all
thanks for sharing
I’m kinda liking the contrast between the fancy dining experience and the very natural and relaxed outdoor activities.
That looks so awesome. I haven’t been to Maine in a while, but would love to go back. Maybe we’ll try a vacation like this!
Wow, that food looks amazing…I think i could use a cabin vacation with the hubby.
I need to visit here! I live in RI so close! It looks amazing!
The food looks amazing and the cabin looks so comfortable! If I was going to Maine, that is where I would want to stay!!
