Skylanders Swap Force

The Skylanders are invading, for a third time.  This time they are coming in pieces.  Skylanders Swap Force is the newest Skylanders game and revolves around the mechanics of swapping the top and bottom powers to make new combinations of characters.  For example if one character can move quickly with a tire and has an arm cannon, but you would rather have tentacle feet and an arm cannon, the cannon top can be attached to the tentacle feet for the best of both worlds.  The way the Swap Force figures stick together are by two small magnets.  These hold the figures together while playing, but are easy to pull apart when you would like to.  By combining characteristics from both top and bottom players are able to reach new areas in the game as well.

New Skylanders Game

The story itself takes place on Cloudbreak Island, where you have to with the help of some new and old friends take on Kaos once again in order to save all of Skyland.  This time around characters can now fly, climb, dig, bounce, or teleport their way through their adventures.

There are over 50 new Skylanders to collect including 16 Swap Force characters, which can be used to create 250 combinations, 16 new Core characters, 8 LightCore characters, and 16 new “Wow Pow” updated fan favorites from previous Skylanders games.  In addition to the new characters, every figure from the previous games will work in Swap Force including Giants.  All characters will also carry over any upgrades and progression.  Character level caps have also been raised to 20, from the previous 15.  In game all characters in the console version of the game are now in full HD stunning glory and look great.  From swirling clouds to spinning tires all colors are vibrant and animation sharp.

Collectible Figures

One of the most interesting aspects of Skylanders has always been the characters.  The detail and quirkiness of them is great, from Eye Brawl in Skylanders Giants to Voodood in Series 1, Swap Force follows in this with characters such as Grilla Drilla and Rattle Shake.

But there is something even more impressive then the Swapability of the toys, ALL characters can now jump.  That’ s right no longer are the Skylanders grounded, but can now jump.  Little Man loves this.  He has been asking since the first Skylanders why they can’t jump.  Now his hopes have been answered.
