Oftentimes, when people think of taking a family vacation, places like Disneyworld or taking a cross- country trip and checking out the Grand Canyon are the kinds of things that immediately come to mind.
But if you have enough time off and your budget can afford it, how about trying something that’s a bit “outside of the box”? How about going to a place like Australia instead?
Although we’re pretty sure that one of the first things that comes to mind when we say that is kangaroos (and yes, there are quite of a few of them there), the reality is that Australia has plenty of family-friendly things to do.
If this is piquing your interest and you’re interested in knowing about some of the sites that would make taking the trip well worth your while, we have enclosed five of our favorite “down under” activities below:
Nambung National Park. Something that people of all ages love to do is play at a park, right? Well, if you make a point to stop by the Nambung National Park, you will literally feel like you’ve just stepped into an adventure. For starters, you can see over 150,000 different limestone rock pinnacles. Also, there you can do plenty of snorkeling and windsurfing, plus there’s also a lot of wildlife that you can watch as you’re spending your time there as well.
Fraser Island. Do you and your kids love to swim? If so, you’ve got to go and spend a day on Fraser Island. Aside from its beautiful freshwater lakes and rainforests, it’s actually gotten the biggest part of its reputation due to the fact that it’s currently considered to be the largest sand island in the entire world.
Tamborine Mountain Glow Worm Caves. We can totally understand why you might be surprised by the fact that we’re actually recommending a place where you will see plenty of worms. However, these aren’t just any kind of worms. These are the type that literally glow in the dark. It sounds pretty amazing, we know, but by taking a tour of the Tamborine Mountain Glow Worm Caves, you will be able to see worms that sparkle along the caves’ walls as you’re walking through them.
Daintree Rainforest. Something that the natives of Australia would definitely recommend that you not miss is visiting the Daintree Rainforest. Although there are certainly several that you can view while
you’re there, what makes Daintree so remarkable is that it’s Australia’s largest rainforest. You will see everything from frogs and butterflies to native birds during your tour. Plus, the Daintree Rainforest also offers crocodile boat tours and you can even visit several animal sanctuaries too.
Sydney’s Paddys Markets. Before you leave Australia, someplace that you definitely must go is to its capital, Sydney. It has plenty of entertainment, plenty of music and plenty of culture. And, whether it’s at the beginning or end of your time there, don’t forget to stop by Sydneys Paddys Markets. It’s a fun and affordable place to purchase clothes, jewelry and great souvenirs.
