There’s nothing quite like a romantic getaway spent lounging on a sandy beach sipping cocktails, but if you’re really looking to slip away with a loved one you should leave the shores of the Spanish all-inclusive resorts behind, and jet off in search of some serenity. We’ve rounded up a selection of some of the world’s most secluded beaches, so you can soak up the rays in complete peace, quiet and privacy.
Stonehole Beach, Bermuda
With a stretch of pink sands and glorious pale blue waters, the beaches of Bermuda are out of this world. Surprisingly though, it’s never too hard to find a nice secluded spot. Stonehole Beach is the best of a good bunch, though it’s not the easiest to reach. You’ll have to take the bus to Horseshoe Bay and wade through some waist-high waves to reach it, but you can guarantee that your efforts will be worth it when it’s just the two of you enjoying the view.
Anse Macquereau, Seychelles
Home to some of the world’s most luxurious resorts, peace and quiet doesn’t come better than on the beautiful Seychelles islands. One of the swankiest of these is Fregate Island, and it’s well worth splurging on. Palm trees and granite formations line each side of the beach, keeping other human life well away, and there’s even a Beach occupied sign for the ultimate privacy. Not that you’d encounter many other people anyway – only a handful of the world’s wealthiest come here.
Salema Beach, Portugal
Portugal’s Algarve region has a bit of a reputation for being built up and packed with tourists, but it’s still possible to escape the other holidaymakers and enjoy some serenity. The small fishing village of Salema is one of the Algarve’s best-kept secrets and as well of plenty of authentic charm and a stunning beach, the fresh seafood here is spectacular!
Playa Soledad, Mexico
Boasting almost two miles of glorious white sands, the Playa Soledad is owned by the Las Alamandas resort, and is so far out of the way you’ll be more or less guaranteed to have the beach to yourself. Reserve with the resort in advance, and they’ll escort you there via jeep, provide umbrellas and a picnic lunch, and supply you with a walkie-talkie for when you’re ready to return. If you really want to splash out you can even hire horses to take you for a romantic canter along the shoreline.
Hidden Beach, Mexico
There are lots of romantic breaks by secretescapes.com to choose from, but for the ultimate in solitude the number one choice has to be the aptly named Hidden Beach. The second Mexican spot on our list, the beach is located on the remote Marieta Islands, and was used as a military exercise base by the government in the early twentieth century. These days, you can enjoy activities such as snorkelling and kayaking.
Swakopmund Beach, Namibia
Namibia might seem like an unlikely beach destination, but that’s exactly why it’s ideal for finding some peace and quiet. As well as a beautiful beach, the seaside promenade and palm-lined streets are truly wonderful.
I had no idea about these hidden gems! What beautiful scenery. I can only wish I get to visit something so beautiful one day!
I hadn’t heard of the Hidden Beach before and that would be one I’d love to go to
As someone who loves to travel, this post caught my eye. I travel for many reasons but one of my top reasons is catch up on some long overdue relaxation. I believe that any of the places listed in the post would allow for me to do just that. I hope that in my future I will have the opportunity to travel to one of these beautiful destinations. If I could, I would love to travel to all of them. They all look magnificent. The landscapes look incredible. Great post, thank you for sharing!
