While in LA, I had the chance to check out the set of Grey’s Anatomy.  It was a lot of fun.  We got to check out the set, as well as meet some of the actors and creative people behind the scenes, like costume designers and prop creators.

win ph 03 15 14 226This is the living room of the “Dream House” that belongs to Meredith Greys and Derek McDreamy. A lot nicer (and neater!) then my own, I will tell you that 😉

win ph 03 15 14 228The very well organized kitchen in the McDreamy House  🙂

win ph 03 15 14 231The hospital on the set, complete with toys and brochures, which made me laugh  🙂

win ph 03 15 14 239I loved this picture, it was just the hospital floor, but still.  Made it “authentic”.

win ph 03 15 14 245The “guts” of Grey’s Anatomy, as shown to us by the prop master.

win ph 03 15 14 244Some of the authentic props used on the set. The prop master, Master Angela Whiting, explained what they all were, how they worked, and why they needed to have photos and multiples of each and every item.  Good stuff, and interesting to hear about.

win ph 03 15 14 247Some of the costumes used on the set, worn by the cast of the show.  These costumes were designed and sewn by the 16 costumers on staff, with the exception of the scrubs, which are made by one brand just for the show, and altered when they arrive for each “doctor”.  Designer Mimi Melgaard was kind enough to show us these and a few others, and explain the process.

win ph 03 15 14 249Meet the doctors!  Camilla Luddington who is Jo Wilson, Alex Karev (Justin Chambers in real life), and Sara Drew aka Dr. April Kepner.

Sara Drew spoke to us about her experiences on set and as an actress, and what working on “Grey’s Anatomy” was like.  We also were able to speak with Dr. Arizona, who told us that she herself decided to wear the roller skates, which she didn’t even know how to use.  At first, someone had to stand out of view and catch her as she skated on and off the scenes, because she didn’t know how to stop herself.

grays anatomy groupWe had a great time on the set, and thank you to ABC for letting us spend the afternoon with you! Follow all the fun on twitter with the hashtag #ABCTVEvent

This is so amazing! How much fun!!!

I’m a huge fan and bummed that Christina Yang will be leaving this season. I nearly stopped watching, but they made some great changes this year and sucked me back in 🙂
