With glorious weather all year round and some of the most stunning beaches on the planet, Turkey has emerged as a clear favorite for family getaways. For many years, British families looked to Spain and  the Greek Isles for their fun in the sun, but it is now widely known that last minute holidays to Turkey can help you achieve an exciting and fun-filled  vacation that will leave you with pleasant memories.

It really is a destination which has it all. With a mix of Asian and European cultures, Turkey provides a fun and informative vacation regardless of your age or budget. Yes Turkey is a little further away than Spain and Greece, but in our experience, people who give it a try often end up coming back year after year.

In addition to the vibrant multiculturalism of Istanbul, there are four main regions which tourists flock to – Antalya, Marmaris, Bodrum and Izmir. All have their own unique qualities and an affordable last minute to holiday to any is sure to live long in the memory. But which is the best for families and what can you expect to receive for your money?

Here we look at three activities which can be enjoyed at Turkish resorts and should appeal to your loved ones, both young and old.

Izmir Wildlife Park

Everyone loves animals and this is one of the largest wildlife parks in the whole of Europe. Home to more than 1,500 different creatures, the park allows you to get close and see animals acting naturally as many are not kept in pens or enclosures.

Children always love to see the elephants and giraffes as they happily graze away in warm and beautiful surroundings. Entrance prices are very reasonable and the photos you take here will take pride of place in any family album.

Go on a boat trip in Marmaris

Feel the breeze in your hair as you sail around the crystal clear coast of the Mediterranean. Boat trips run regularly through the day and are extremely good value for money. Many offer BBQs and stop at regular points so you can either relax in the sun or take a dip in the sea.

Most of the excursions make a visit to the awe-inspiring phosphoric caves and the stunning Paradise Island, so have your camera at the ready.

Make a splash at the Dedeman Aqua Park in Bodrum

This is the biggest waterpark in the whole of the country and welcomes thousands of families every year. Located in the Ortakent region of Bodrum, it has paddling pools for the little ones and no less than 23 water slides for the more adventurous.

If you do not want to make a splash yourself, there are plenty of things to do while your loved ones are enjoying the water. These include visiting the site’s shopping centre, having a meal in one of its restaurants and even going to a disco.

Other Turkish delights available across the country include visiting traditional bazaars, historic mosques and, of course, Turkish baths.
