What’s an Easter basket without a few stuffed animals?  Most kids, my son included, love something soft to snuggle with, and Easter is a great excuse to give them cuddly toys like lambs and bunnies.

Gund is one of my all time favorite stuffed animal brands- they have such a great variety of stuffed toys and animals, it’s easy to find things that you and your little ones will love.  Easter is no exception, they have a huge variety of not only rabbits, but other soft and snugglies as well.  Some of the rabbits available this year include “Floppy” (the large white rabbit) which is available in two sizes at $15 or $25.  Super plush and true to the name, floppy, it’s a great cuddle toy.  Ditter Bunny is velvety smooth to the touch, and the perfect size for small hands.  He is available for $12, and his sweet face will bring smiles to yours on Easter morning.  A fun new addition to the Gund family, Li’l Sprout Bunny is available in four fun and festive spring colors- white, yellow, green, and pink.   This bunny is flatter then most stuffed toys, which makes it all the more interesting, and has a great, cartoon-ish face sewn on as well as rosy cheeks.  They are $12 each, and would be fun to decorate with as well-  but make no mistake, your kids or grandkids are going to make off with them as soon as possible.  There are tons more rabbits, as well as chicks, ducks, lambs, and more spring toys available on gund.com or at local specialty stores.

To add a little “Pop” to your basket, try Hog Wild’s Bunny Popper.  This bunny is also a shooter- you put the ball inside and squeeze to shoot it out.  The balls fly up to 20 feet and are Styrofoam- the package says it is safe for indoor or outdoor play, but I always recommend balls for outdoor play only.  Mom always said don’t play ball in the house (for a reason).  Just as cute as a chocolate bunny, but won’t make the kids sick from eating to much candy.  $10 on http://www.hogwildtoys.com/ , and you get get these in many other places like Amazon.com or Fatbrain Toys.

All Easter baskets need at least one egg- why not make it a Playmobile character egg?  These are a lot of fun in a small package, and with a small price tag.  Available for $8.99 on http://www.playmobil.us/ , there are several color and character/scene choices you can pick from.  These toys are easy to pack up and take with you out to dinner or to grandma’s house, and the price is a good value for play.   Kids love these- and if you have Playmobile playsets, they are able to be used with them, which only adds to the enjoyment.

Speaking of playsets, for kids who love Calico Critters (and most do), a great spring addition to your collection is the new Hazlenut Chimpmunk Family.  The set of four comes with a mother, father, sister and brother, each fully dressed.  They each have their own personalities and work in with the Calico Critter World theme, where everyone has a special job, family, and are friends with each other.  These toys are cute for teaching social skills, working with the imagination, creating stories, and what makes a community.  For $23 on http://www.calicocritters.com/ , and there are more families to choose from.  Traditional spring like bunnies, or interesting additions like elephants, the choice is yours.
