Playmobile toys and sets are tons of fun- and they are not quickly set aside like some gifts. These sets inspire imaginative play, let kids build, are no to low tech, and pieces are interchangeable with other sets (you can build quite a universe should you so choose.
No matter what your child is interested in, there is likely a set (or sets) in that theme, whether it’s animals, pirates, dragons, camping- anything, really. Some sets have some technology, like remote control, that adds another level of play without connecting them to a keyboard or computer.
If you wanted to take it to the online world, playmobil.com offers games and downloads that go with their toys. So many options. And unlike many sets, lots of these are good for boys or girls, without involving Barbie or making everything pink. Zoo sets are just zoos, no need for genderizing. There are some sets that are clearly more for one gender or another (such as the shopping mall set or the construction crane set), but many are easily played with by everyone in the family. The more gender specific sets are fun for kids exploring their world and interests, and since they can be used with other Playmobile sets, a larger town or city can be made. The construction worker goes to the mall on his day off, or on his lunch hour- the kids will figure out the logistics.
These sets are fun for everyone, and easy to get mom and dad involved in. Everyone has a part they can play- even if dad is the giant panda, thus say the kiddos.
Whistlefritz is a fun way to introduce your kids to Spanish or French, or to supplement leaning they might receive in school. Created by a mom to help her own kids learn Spanish, Whistlefritz is available both is CD or DVD format. Even if you don’t speak a second language, you can give your kids a leg up by letting them learn and be exposed to this high-quality immersion program that is engaging, age appropriate, and fun. Studies have shown that early childhood is the best time for children to absorb a second (or third) language. While US schools are not utilizing this, you can give your kids the advantage for better learning their whole lives, as well as a better grasp of the language. Children who speak more then one language are better at multi-tasking, focus better, and have a better working memory in addition to a plethora of other benefits. Not to mention, an entire new world of people and places is opened up to them- to give your child a second language is one of the best gifts you could ever give them.
SwaggerTags are fun ways to identify your luggage, school bags, strollers- whatever you want to mark as your own. These ID tags let you keep track of your stuff while adding your own personal flair. Include whatever personal information you deem necessary, then add your own photo, logo, or whatever image you like best, and you are done. The tags come in six colors, and is water resistant as well as impact resistant (important for those airport carousels). These tags are good not only for luggage, but also for your children’s school gear. Let’s face it- kids lose things. Help those things get back to you by labeling or tagging them with your child’s name or your phone number on it (be careful what you put on those tags- no one wants some creeper calling your kid!)
What better way to play with the kids then with toys you played with as a kid yourself? And who didn’t (and doesn’t) love Star Wars? It’s un-American, really. The STAR WARS COMMAND MILLENNIUM FALCON Set is a lot of fun, as it includes three different forces. You can be Luke Skywalker, fight against the Rebel Alliance, or send the Millennium Falcon vehicle itself into battle. The ship pulls back and releases (blast off!) right into the fight.
The set comes with all you need to fight and defeat the Dark Side- or become one with it, whatever suits your fancy, you devil, you. Maybe mom or dad is one side and the kids are the other- who knows, there are many battles to be fought here. The set includes everyone’s favorites like Chewbacca, R2D2, Darth Vader, Luke Skywalker, and more- as well as AT-AT drivers, pilots, soldiers, AT-AT walkers- really, everything you need for an epic battle. 7 vehicles and 24 action figures in all.
If it’s not already, this one should be on the holiday shopping list.If you have not yet introduced your children to Star Wars, it’s high time you redeemed yourself. (And for pete’s sake, watch them in the “right” order, or I’m telling. If you begin with the malarkey that is Episode 1, we can’t ever talk again. Never.)
