As a frequent traveler (and person who often has difficulty sleeping) I am always interested in finding better ways to get a good night’s sleep. Sleep often eludes me, and oddly, I tend to sleep better when I am NOT at home. Maybe that’s not so odd- my husband is the world’s loudest snore-er. It’s horrible. When he travels with my son and I, we have more then once had people pounding on doors to yell at us, he was so loud. My son and I have moved to separate rooms, he has a sleep machine that just seems to add to the noise…it’s like sleeping with a den of bears, LOL. When I sleep in a hotel, it’s really, really quiet.
However, have you ever noticed that when staying in a hotel, symptoms like congestion and dry/itchy eyes can materialize in your sleep? Plush bedding is a haven for dust mites, which can trigger allergy symptoms and dust reactions. Protective bedding creates a barrier to prevent this. It’s a great, natural way to combat allergy symptoms that can arise on the road (as well as at home). You might not be able to bring a mattress protector but sneak a pillow protector in your travel bag and you’re all set.
AllerEase created an easy quiz to help you learn whether dust mites and allergens are jacking your slumber, and offer simple home remedies like allergen barrier protective bedding and washing sheets frequently to help take back your sleep.
There are five things impacting your sleep the most according to AllerEase. 1) Sleeping with your favorite cuddler – your pet (dander, flees, hair and pet slobber, just don’t do it!) 2) That old mattress … – Does your mattress need to be retired? Roughly seven in 10 Americans (69%) report their mattress is at least four years old or they don’t know the age of their mattress. 3) Not washing your bedding weekly – Did you know less than 13% of people wash their bedding frequently (even though allergists recommend doing so)? 4) The annoying sound of your partner snoring – Congestion caused by dust mites and allergens in your bedding can be the cause. 5) Unprotected bedding – The average bed contains household allergens and 10,000 to 10 million dust mites, which can set off allergy and congestion symptoms. Currently, less than 10% of Americans report using protective bedding, like AllerEase, to protect bedding and preserve the life of their mattress.
