The new Once Upon a Sign movies retell your favorite Children’s Tales in American Sign Language (ASL). These great movies from DawnSignPress will be released June 2, 2015.

About DawnSignPress:

DawnSignPress creates, develops, and publishes quality American Sign Language and Deaf culture-related DVDs and books. They are dedicated to the principle that Deaf people are the natural experts regarding their language and culture. DawnSignPress wholeheartedly supports the efforts of Deaf people to document ASL, Deaf culture, history, heritage, and literature.

About Once Upon a Sign Series:

The three titles that are being launched are “The Magic Mirror in American Sign Language”, “The New Goldilocks and the Three Bears in American Sign Language”, and “The New Little Red Riding Hood in American Sign Language”. All of these great movies are endorsed by Kids First. Once Upon a Sign re-creates classic children’s stories with clever modern themes performed by an all-deaf cast entirely in ASL with voice-over and English subtitles. Each DVD also features “Fun Signs”, a recap of key signs from the story.

About Once Upon a Sign ‘The Magic Mirror’:

Young Alice Cogswell wants to enter the talent show but she’s unsure of herself. After an audition that doesn’t go her way, she gets some magic help. But will this magic help get her to the talent show and help her ASL poetry sparkle?

My Thoughts:

As a public educator I see many perks to this great DVD. I have several students that would benefit from this series. I enjoyed sharing this movie with a small group of students at my school and am excited to share the other DVDs with those kids as well.
