Baby shows are meant to be a fun and exciting way to congratulate the parents-to-be on the upcoming arrival of their bundle of joy. For the guests, however, it can be a stressful situation trying to figure out what gift to buy the new parents. You don’t want to get them something useless nor do you want to purchase duplicate items. Thankfully, the following tips will help you choose the right baby shower gift that will make the parents happy.

Buying from the Registry

A registry is one of the best ways to ensure you get the parents-to-be a gift that they actually want. For those who don’t know, registries allow the expectant parents to make a wishlist at certain stores of items they want. This wishlist is then given to guests, and once an item is purchased from the wishlist, it is removed, thus eliminating the possibility of more than one guest buying the same gift. For most parents-to-be, the registry is an easy way to let the baby shower guests know what items you would really like or need for the baby. Parents-to-be usually add gifts with varying price ranges. This allows family members to go in together in a more expensive gift, as well as guests on a budget to find an item that they can afford.

Choose a Personal Gift

Another great option is to purchase a gift that has a personal meaning to the parent(s)-to-be. St Louis Cardinals baby clothes, for example, makes the perfect gift for fans of the team. Or buy the baby a stuffed animal from the parent-to-be’s favorite Disney movie from their childhood. These types of personal gifts are usually more suited for a close friend or family member of the parents-to-be.

Go Practical

For the most part, a practical gift for ideal when you’re in a rush, not sure what the gender of the baby is or just don’t know what else to get for the shower. Babies are expensive and need a lot of basic items that often get overlooked. Diapers, pacifiers, baby wipes, bottles and onesies are a few of the gifts considered practical that help the parent take care of the daily needs of their baby. These items often takes a bit of the burden off the parents since they know that these items are necessary and needed as soon as the baby arrives.
