If you are here today, the chances are that this is the first time that you are dealing with a newborn. Or in simpler words, you are just about to become a parent for the first time and you are confused about particular things like feeding the baby, etc. Well, if that’s the case and if you really are worried then first we’ll ask you to stop panicking and stay easy and calm. Yes, you read that right! You don’t have to panic at all because it’s not that difficult. After all, everyone becomes a parent sooner or later in his life, so think about it? If it was that difficult, would everyone have babies?
Now, coming back to the topic of today, if you want to know how to feed your baby or if you are looking for some tips to feed a newborn then you are at the right place, reading the right article. Today we are going to jot down some of the best tips and suggestions from the pro moms who have been excellent when it comes to dealing with a newborn.
1- Stick With Breast Milk
You don’t use any fluids other than breast milk or infant formula when it comes to newborns. Especially if you want your baby to be healthy and strong, then the wiser thing to do is to stick with breast milk. A lot of mothers out there use infant formulas to feed their babies which isn’t wrong, but if you have the breast milk and if there’s no problem with it then this should be your first priority. Infant formulas don’t have the nutrition and vitamins etc that your little one needs and this is something every doctor will tell you too.
2- Feed Your Little One On Cue
Babies are unpredictable! We repeat, they are unpredictable and their hunger cycles too. So, you need to be very very careful with that. Look for cues when you want to know whether your little one is hungry or not. Usually, newborns take 12 to 14 feeds every single day after two to three hours. If your baby is a little cranky one, he will probably start crying right away when he is hungry but if he doesn’t cry, he will start giving away cues like sucking his toes, closing his mouth, moving the hands to the mouth and of course fussing and crying are the most obvious signs that he is hungry.
3- Vitamin D Supplements
This is something you need to ask your baby’s doctor. Ask if you can give the baby Vitamin D supplements because sometimes, the Vitamin D in a mother’s breast milk isn’t sufficient for the baby, which can be a problem. So, either ask the doctor to recommend you Vitamin D supplements or ask him/her if you can give these supplements to the baby.
4- Trust Your Instincts
It’s God’s gift to a mother that she can instantly know if there’s something wrong with the baby or his food or his feeding pattern. So, as a mother, you need to trust your instincts, and when you know something isn’t quite right for your baby, follow it and do as your heart says. You are supposed to have faith in your own-self before consulting any doctor or any other mother. Just believe in what you feel!
Conclusion
These are some of the best tips that can be useful for you for feeding your baby. Follow these tips, and we assure you that everything will fall into place for you and your little one. Just don’t panic, no matter what.
