Rayman is back in all his legendary glory in the game, Rayman Legends. This newest entry in the Rayman series follows in the footsteps of Rayman Origins.
This time Rayman is out to jump, punch, bounce and float his way through 120 levels of 2.5 dimensions of platforming fun. 2.5 dimensions means for the most part, it is a 2D game but throughout the levels, characters hop from from to back or creatures will slink from area to area, making for some very interesting game play. Legends is blast to play and is one of those games that are easy to play yet hard to master in that oh so rewarding jump and bounce way. When running from dragons or just trying to hop off a cliff before it crumbles away, the most rewarding moments in Rayman are when a level is finished and you get that wonderful end level Rayman dance.
Kids Video Game
Rayman doesn’t have to go through this adventure alone, he now has help from not only his big buddies Globox and the Teensies, but you can now play as Barbara and her sisters once they are saved. Along with the new characters there is also a new assistance character, Murfy who cuts ropes, activates switches, and distracts enemies giving Rayman a much needed edge over his enemies. In addition to the new characters there is also the ability for up to four players to play cooperatively locally, also known as couch co-op. I think playing co-op with your kids is a great way to not only spend time with your kids but also foster their problem solving ability, their hand eye co-ordination and also their determination to keep trying until a solution is found through team work. Its also a greatly rewarding experience when beating a level together which has been a real difficult one. As someone who grew up playing platform games of yester-year this is a joy to play and share with the little guy.
Wii U Video Games
For those of you who grab the Wii U version of the game there is also a Challenges App available for free, which allows you to compete with others around the globe to see who is the best Rayman out there in various levels including dungeons and towers that go on forever and randomly generated levels. Throughout usage of the app new characters are unlocked as well, extending the fun the the main game.
Rayman Legends is available for the Wii U, Playstation 3, Xbox 360, Playstation Vita and Windows. All of which are available now.
