Wedding dresses have been around for a very long time.  They first became made popular by Queen Victoria in the 19th century.  Wedding dresses come in many shapes and sizes but there are in general three categories of dresses.  These three encompass every wedding dress in existence, getting more specific as we go down our list.  The classification of the dress into one of these categories is easy but also some dresses fall into more then one category, even all three at times.

These categories are:

Wedding dress: This is a category that will encompass all dresses.  A wedding dress, anything worn by the bride to a wedding.  From traditional to the not at all traditional, they are all wedding dresses.  This category includes every wedding dress.

Beach Wedding dress:  These are a bit different from a regular wedding dress.  These are meant to be worn outdoors and are cut a bit higher to keep from dragging in the sand.  Some are even made to drag in the sand a bit for a flowing fabric over sand look.

Garden/Outdoor:  Garden dresses are similar to the beach wedding dresses but are a bit more Earthy and natural, most have less “pouf” and not so gown-ish.   Check out both of these categories if you are in the market for a stunning outdoor wedding dress, but don’t want to feel “fluffy” on your big day.

Of the three categories the most common is the first, which encompasses all wedding dresses so for someone not really sure what they are looking for yet, take a look at everything.  You never know what will strike your fancy, it may be what you least expect.  But if looking for a beach wedding dress, this category is most useful.  The last is also an option for a beach wedding dress as well, just keep an open mind.  Always keep your eyes open for that perfect dress that fits you, no matter what it is categorized as.  If that dream dress is a beach dress but you are having your event at a traditional venue,  keep in mind it is your wedding dress and you have to be happy in it.

  1. There are some gorgeous dresses on that site.
I sure hope I get married ina garden on day.
my theme would be fire and ice.
light blue/white for the girls and deep red for the men.
and lots of ice sculptures and a fire eater or one of those papermache volcanos would work too.
