LifeNest was created by a pediatric doctor for use in hospitals and homes, the Lifenest Sleep System helps prevent Flat Head syndrome. A baby’s head is delicate and head flattening can occur during the first three months of life – when the baby’s skull is still malleable. The risk of babies developing a flat head increases especially if they lay most of the time on a firm baby bed mattress and today, doctors say that one in two babies show signs of Plagiocephaly or Flat Head Syndrome.
The LifeNest uses the properties of a hammock with netting built into the mattress, Lifenest reduces pressure on the head by nearly 50%. The netting also would allow a baby to breathe freely through the netting if they were to accidentally roll over. There is a mesh fabric with venting channels. A baby could breathe straight through the netting, which would help reduce the risk of suffocation.
The LifeNest has hypoallergenic netting which is dust mites free.
The Lifenest System comes with a white fitted coversheet. The coversheet has ties on it that will tie up directly to your crib, so that you can ensure it is not moving around.
My Thoughts:
I was extremely impressed with this product. My youngest daughter seemed to have a flat spot on her head. The doctors never worried about it, but I however was always a little worried about it. It never bothered her, and now she has a beautiful round head. I truly wish that something like this product would have been around when I had my girls. When we have more children in the future, hopefully, I most definitely will be very happy to pull it out. Not only is it a great way to ensure that your child’s head stays round, but it also lets them sleep fairly snug. Both my girls loved to curl up in little balls, and I know that they would have enjoyed this. I also was impressed to see that if for some reason your child does figure out how to get turned around, you can sleep easy knowing that there are holes on the bottom and your child will always be able to breathe easily.
My girls are too old for this, but a friend of mine was over that has a 2 month old. I really wanted to see what her little girl thought, so I quickly got it out and set it up. She seemed to be very comfortable in it and enjoy sleeping in it.
