LifeNest was created by a pediatric doctor for use in hospitals and homes, the Lifenest Sleep System helps prevent Flat Head syndrome. A baby’s head is delicate and head flattening can occur during the first three months of life – when the baby’s skull is still malleable. The risk of babies developing a flat head increases especially if they lay most of the time on a firm baby bed mattress and today, doctors say that one in two babies show signs of Plagiocephaly or Flat Head Syndrome.
The LifeNest uses the properties of a hammock with netting built into the mattress, Lifenest reduces pressure on the head by nearly 50%. The netting also would allow a baby to breathe freely through the netting if they were to accidentally roll over. There is a mesh fabric with venting channels. A baby could breathe straight through the netting, which would help reduce the risk of suffocation.
