There is a saying that instead of dressing for the job you have, you should dress for the job you want. Well, 2014 is the year to dress for the life you want! This year, I challenge you to embrace fashions that boldly declare your renewed determination to succeed.
The best way to get inspired while also beating away the winter blahs is to inject a vibrant color palette into your wardrobe. Fall harvest colors pop when paired with winter hues. Consider combining eggplant with teal, mustard with lilac or cobalt with barn red. Another way you can switch up your look is to mix an assortment of prints.
Both of these daring fashion trends broadcast your fearlessness to take on the world. Despite the novelty, it is actually easy to blend these styles into your daily life.
Wear Prints, Don’t Let Them Wear You!
When combining patterns, there is a thin line between chic and tacky. Clashing designs create sensory overload for everyone around you and give off a frenzied, chaotic vibe. To keep it classy, opt for simple silhouettes that do not compete with the textiles.
Mixing different printed accessories shine brightest against a simple background. When the clothing is meant to be the star, accessorize with a solid-colored coat, wide belt, handbag or shoes. A button-up jacket can provide peek-a-boo glimpses of your wild side during the workday while a simple cardigan can break up a mismatched scarf and patterned dress.
Start experimenting by accenting a neutral wardrobe with two basic accessories – a print bag, striped scarf, textured tights or animal print flats. As you get more comfortable with the style, add in a patterned dress or a long floral skirt with a simple silk shirt.
Crazy For Plaid
Plaids are also a great place to start since nearly any design is complementary, from thick stripes to polka dots to romantic florals. However, the only way to bring these disparate designs together is for both garments to have one common color. You should also balance a busy print with a neutral one, such as a striped shirt in two shades of the same color.
In addition to incorporating vibrant colors and fusing prints, consider how you can play with various textures, such as tweed pants and a cabled cotton sweater or a leather jacket with a lace scarf.
Since large, bright prints attract attention, it is crucial that you know how to accentuate your body’s best assets. Areas you prefer to minimize benefit from smaller, simpler patterns.
Inspiration for Pairing Prints
When it comes to women’s retail stores that offer different varieties of prints, the latest Fresh Produce Clothing collections offer a beautiful bounty of clothing that captures the refreshing spirit of the season. The rich hues of the Harvest print are enhanced by the aqua tones of the Rio print and the funky patterns of the Destination print.
Switching into timeless elegance shines through in the pop icon sensation of Audrey Hepburn. She was famously known for combining button-up tops with a pair of classic Audrey black skinny legged pants or a playful Batik Flower print. Finish the ensemble with colorful Gauze Stripe Scarf, which comes in combinations of pink and coral, blue and yellow, or pink and twilight.
This winter add some color to your wardrobe and winter attire. Add a little extra pop in their step by dressing up the casual black on black combination with a little color variety. Take some time this year to get up a little earlier so you can put a little more effort into your everyday appearance. If getting up early isn’t entirely your thing, pick out your next day’s outfit before you go to bed to save time decision making in the morning. Either way, getting dressed in the morning should feel like one of the best parts of the morning. Sometimes when the day looks like it is getting off on the wrong foot, add a few little things into your outfit that bring happiness into your life. The small things in life will make all the rest of the bad not seem so important. After all, showing up is only half the battle.
