With the recent craze of toys meet video games, Skylanders has been one top producer. With an ever expanding army of toys as well as innovative new ways to play, Skylanders are in it for the long haul. Their most recent release is no different. Instead of swapping or modifying figures, now you can trap villain characters and use them in game as your own. This might sound confusing or difficult, but in true Skylanders fashion, it is easy and fun to play. Also for the first time, you will be able to play as Kaos, who is the main villain and has never been playable previously.
Skylanders started with Spyro’s Adventure and the collecting began which was the originator of bring toys into the video game through a portal. This was a smashing success and led to Skylanders Giants which brought us big figures and characters who were more powerful as well as larger in game. Also brought into the game are light-core figures who have glowing light core parts and updates of previous figures. Swap Force came next allowing players to swap out character traits to put together their favorites into a new character. Now we have Trap Team which uses special crystals to capture enemies which can be summoned then controlled by the player to further expand the Skylanders universe.
The new game has a brand new story, brand new characters, and brand new Skylanders. But one of the best aspects of Skylanders has always been that the game works with it’s previous games, all the way back to Spyro’s Advanture. This means that toy which you bought for the initial game can now be used with the Trap Team as well. Not only are there new guys to collect, but your previous collection has an added value as well. The mechanics of the game itself stay true to the series with platforming, leveling up of powers, and puzzles to solve. My son adores Skylanders and was jumping for joy when he first heard about the new game, and once he received it almost exploded. Skylanders is great single player game, but is even more fun with friends. Up to two people can play at the same time cooperatively as a team.
Skylanders Trap Team is available now for Xbox 360™ and Xbox One™ video game and entertainment systems from Microsoft, PlayStation® 3 and PlayStation® 4 computer entertainment systems, Nintendo’s Wii™ system, Nintendo’s Wii U™ system, and a completely unique adventure available on the Nintendo 3DS™ hand-held system.
We are looking forward to playing with this when the kids get it from Santa! We have the other Skylanders for our XBox and the kids love it.
I’ve been seeing these in the store and they look like a lot of fun for kids. I think it’s interesting they add a new element to video games with actual characters they can collect making the games more tactile.
I had not seen these before. They look like so much fun for the boys. I can imagine them playing it with and without the game.
That looks so fun! I know Skylanders are so popular right now
This sounds like a perfect game for my nephew. It would be a great gift for him for Christmas because he loves games like this. Thanks for sharing.
