Hurricane has me down/flooding…

Sorry all- the Hurricane has passed, but is leaving floods in her wake- they are expecting the worst floods ever for this area, and there are dams threatening to break- so you won’t see or hear from me, perhaps.

We could have damage, like- major-major damage- house, furnace, hot water heater, etc.   I’m terrified.  Others on my street and surrounding are evacuated.  I have power at this moment, but they expect it to go back out.

Think Geek- Daddy’s Corner Review

It’s time for another edition of cool stuff at ThinkGeek!!!
(Review by Daddy!)
In this edition we are reviewing the God of War toys including Kratos and Hercules.  And also a nifty shirt that sells out in no time flat the Ge Ni U S periodic table t-shirt.
First up God of War.  God of War is one of the best selling game series of our generation.  It follows the trial and tribulations of the protagonist Kratos on his quest for vengeance and retribution against the Greek Gods, who have used him and his family as pawns.  If you haven’t played a God of War game it is very violent, very gory, and- for those of age- very fun.  This line of toys is based on that series of games.
First up is Kratos.  Kratos is incredibly well detailed from the angry look on his face to the chains which he is stuck wearing and using as weapons along with his blades throughout the series.  He is not as articulate for our little ones, but let’s be honest, this is not a toy for the little ones.  They shouldn’t even know who Kratos is.  This is a big boy’s toy, meant to be admired on a shelf locked in battle against another figure.  The other figure mine as well be from the series as well, Hercules.  This figure has the same amount of detail as Kratos and is absolutely stunning.  A scary sight to be seen.  In the game Heracles tries to smash Kratos with his gauntlets, and these are also shown in the action figure.  SWEET!
Hercules and Kratos make a great pair, but keep in mind there are two more figures available at ThinkGeek.  They are Zeus and Hades.  All look great and would make any gamer giggle with happiness and probably want to play some God of War, too.  The interesting thing about God of War is it actually based on real Greek myths so after playing through the game it sparks an interest in learning what the myths really involved.  (Thus further expanding the players knowledge, not only of the game, but also of ancient history.  It gives me something to talk about with the wife- who is NOT a gamer.)

Next up is the Genius shirt.  This shirt makes me laugh.  It is perfect for the science geek in your life.  Be it an actual scientist or just a scifi enthusiast who enjoys the science channel.  Genius is spelled out in periodic elements Ge for Geranium, Ni for nickel,m U for Uranium, and S for sulfur.  It is very neat and gets some interesting looks when out and about.
I can’t forget my favorite robot- Bender!   This Talking Bender figure says all the best catch phrases from the hit Futurama show, like “Who are you and why should I care?”  and “Would you kindly shut your noise hole?”

So there you have it a gift for your gamer and also a gift for your science friend.  Now between those two you should be able to keep the whole crew happy- just don’t bring up who would win in a fight, Spock or Chewie.

This is Daddy, signing off!  May the force be with you.

Win Happy Valley DVDs Volume 1 & Volume 2

Children’s animated stories are brought to life in the launch of two new, delightful animated DVDs series – Castle Farm and Happy Valley, which  reach out to preschool children to engage their imaginations, amuse and entertain and at the same time teach lessons to last a lifetime by relating to them on their own level.  The first volumes of each title settle onto DVD August 30, 2011 from Organa Kids, a company dedicated to bringing the very best in children’s animation and television from around the world to U.S. audiences on DVD and digital download.
Like a child’s drawing brought to life, Castle Farm is a gentle series from England full of color and colorful characters.  Join Farm Girl, Piggy, Leonard, Farmer and all the barnyard animals as they solve mysteries, fix things, get chores done, play games and learn lessons about friendship, responsibility and having fun.  Each vignette is filled with its own tiny adventure that will engage youngsters again and again.
Castle Farm Volume 1 includes the episodes “Snails,” “The Carrot Thief,” “Ball Games,” “A Windy Day,” “Amber,” “The Prickly Flower,” “Bubbles,” “Trophy” and “Waiting for Winnie.”  Volume 2 includes “Muddy Farm,” “Little Bo Lost,” “Stinging Nettles,” “The Twirly Spinner,” “Talking Trouble,” “Woodlice,” “Pumpkin on the Loose,” “Blackberries” and “Eight Legs.”
Happy Valley, a charming series also from England, is set in a beautiful countryside by the sea.  Using traditional and contemporary nursery rhymes and songs, each episode tells a story about the children who live in the valley as they learn about the world around them.  Whether taking a school trip, visiting grandparents, or a simple walk in nature, the tales are endearing and captivating and appeal to even the youngest of viewers. Happy Valley Volume 1 contains the episodes “Rain is Tumbling,” “There You Are, Blackbird,” “Tree on the Hill,” “Where Are You Hiding?,” “Autumn Leaves,” Gee Up Little Horsie,” Wakey, Wakey!,” “Far, Far Away” and Little Donkey.”  Volume 2 contains the episodes “Cosy Little House,” “Have You Ever Been Sailing?,” “Robin Redbreast,” “Going to See the Doctor,” “Scarecrow,” “Cars,” “Shopping,” “Valley Farm” and “Sun Cream.”
Organa Kids was established in 1995 with the mission of introducing American families to stories, characters and cultures from around the world through multicultural stories with universal themes.  Inspiring kids to have an awareness of the world as a whole (while being delightfully entertained), Organa Kids is creating products that balance technology and real-world experiences.  The company most recently released “Scavenger Traveler” app for the iPhone whereby kids of any age can explore their environment traveling or on vacation.  Other DVD releases include “Stories From East of the Moon,” based on witty stories by Monty Python’s Terry Jones; “Move With Me” series of Yoga DVDs for kids;  and “The Adventures of Mouse & Mole.”  On CD-ROM is the fascinating “Croatian Tales” based upon the book “Croatian Tales of Long Ago” animated by an international team of animators, illustrators, musicians, programmers, and actors.
Castle Farm and Happy Valley are recommended for children ages 2-5 and are available for $14.95 each.  For more information about these and other titles, visit www.organakids.com
My kids love the English accents, and the drawings look like they were done by kids.  These simple and sweet stories, drawn with child like images, are simply adorable.  My son likes “Piggy” and my daughter likes “Farm Girl”.  As many of you know, my son is obsessed with farms, the Amish, and all things related to these subjects- you can imagine that these DVDs are a hit with him, especially!

I love the sweet and simple messages of each short clip- being a good friend, helping, being kind to others, etc.  Also?  These are great time-wise- each short is just a few minutes long, so if you are like me and don’t allow much in the way of TV, this is an easy “give”.  Good messages and a small window of time in front of the TV?  GOAL!  LOL.
Want to win?  Here is how to enter!
***NOTE!!!!  You may enter to win on other sites- but if you win on another site, and then win again here, you MUST tell me so I can choose another winner.  You can only win once per DVD.  (I know you guys already know that and would never try to do it- but I am now required to say it!)

Hill’s Healthy Mobility Challenge

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Hills Pet Nutrition for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

This one goes out to all the dog lovers out there.  Hill’s Pet Nutrition the makers of Science Diet are running a new promotion, its called : Hill’s Healthy Mobility Coupon .  The way it works is you register on the site, get $30 in coupons for Hill’s pet food, then start feeding your little four legged friend the food.  Then let everyone know how it goes.  Also when you register you are entered into a contest for a years worth of free dog food.  My dog eats like a mad man so this would be quite useful.

Hill’s makes good quality dog food with vitamins and nutrients out pooches need in order to be healthy and fit.  Take a look at some details on the food: Hill’s Pet Nutrition .  Science diet is known all around for its quality and taste.  I know our little, well big guy, loves it even thought it is good for him.  I honestly haven’t tasted so I will take his word for it.  I just registered at their mobility challenge and i hope you do too.  Not only for the contest but for the health of your pets.  You will notice a difference in their digestion and also attitude, energy, and health in general will improve, not matter what age he/she is.

Tracfone

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of TracFone for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

We all know in the Summer bill can add up quite a bit.  Air conditioners run up the electric bill, kids home run up the electric bill/phone bill/sanity meter.  Well how about a way to save some money?  Well how about TracFone.  TracFone is a pay as you go plan which is available in just about every major retailer across the country and at an affordable price too. A few examples of plans are: $20 for 200 minutes and some as low as $10/month.  Another interesting characteristic of these plans is this: international calls carry the same value as domestic calls.  IE you can call France for the same price as calling New York.

Now i know what you are thinking, “a pay as you go plan, doesnt offer much in terms of options for phones, you can have an old big one or an older bigger one.”  Well TracFone offers the newest models with the  so many features  newest features including camera/video phones, web access, apps, even full QWERTY keyboards.  My personal favorite.  I can’t live without that little keyboard.  Some phones which are available are Motorola Samsung, Nokia, Kyocera, and LG.,

Here are a few testimonials from TracFone customers: real TracFone customers    real TracFone customers .

Cross Post Giveaway for Kids Furniture USA

This is a Cross Post from 3 Princes and a Princess 2 🙂
Enjoy!

I was telling you all earlier today that I am in the process or changing up my daughters room. We have almost everything but the most important part- a new bed. I’m still not quite sure what I really want for her. I recently came across Kids Furniture USA and their line of amazing custom children’s bedroom furniture, decor and more!

They have this adorable pretty in pink collection of furniture that I just love. The whole design and feel to the collection is so fun and unique, unlike most set of have come across. Did you know Kids Furniture USA is the exclusive American importer of unique children’s furniture and the number one choice for Hollywood A-Listers and parents who know that when it comes to providing for their children, the only limit is that which can be dreamed? One look at their realistic race car beds and the matching furniture, and you will realize you can make that dream bedroom into a reality for your child.

My boys had a race car bed but nothing like these ones. I didn’t even realize they made race car beds in such styles. And my boys certainly didn’t have the matching furnishing. These theme-based furnishings are manufactured by one of Europe’s top furniture manufacturers, Cetek, and the product is made from the highest quality materials!

With the recent success of the new Cars 2 movie I could see a lot of little boys loving a race car themed bedroom, just look at how adorable the bookcase is….

I’m almost wishing I was redoing my sons room, instead of my daughters. And there is not much that can tare me away from the girly stuff – I’m sure some of you have realized that.

Win It: Kids Furniture USA wants to help introduce this fantastic furniture maker to everyone in America, by giving away a sleek, stylish bookshelf that looks like a car spoiler (valued at over $160.00 SRP)
