Hyrule Warriors: Legends for Nintendo 3DS

pic8

Hyrule Warriors is a fun hack and slash game, mixing the familiar game characters from the Legend of Zelda with the game play and mechanics of the Dynasty Warriors series to make a fun beat ’em up style game with the rich character design and story line of Legend of Zelda.

The story involves Link and some new friends, Lana and Sheik, helping to restore the Tri-Force and save Princess Zelda while defeating the evil Cia.  In doing this, our heroes must travel through eras in the Hyrule time line ranging from Ocarina of Time, Twilight Princess, Skyward Sword  and now Wind Waker as well.

Each level has tons of enemies to mow down using your hero, and now also allows you to switch characters on the fly so you can further develop an attack plan and strategy without leaving too much responsibility to an AI character.

Included in these tons of enemies are also big bosses who have weaknesses and special techniques in order to be defeated.  This keeps alive the puzzle solving aspect of the Legend of Zelda series.  There are tons of characters to play as in Warriors and with this new version there are five more, Tetra, King of Hyrule, Toon Link, Skull Kid and Linkle.  All of these are usable in addition to other favorites like Link and Sheik.

Hyrule Warriors is a good pick up and play game, and is a great game to play on the go or pause and come back to at a later time.  The action being intense and fun while ,still being playable by gamers of all skill sets.

Included with the 3DS game is a download code to bring the new characters now included in the 3DS version of Hyrule Warriors to the Wii U version, further expanding the fun.

Hyrule Warriors is available now for the Nintendo 3DS both in retail stores and in the eShop online for $39.99.

THE JUNGLE BOOK – Brand New Clip

Directed by Jon Favreau (“Iron Man”), based on Rudyard Kipling’s timeless stories and inspired by Disney’s classic animated film, “The Jungle Book” is an all-new live-action epic adventure about Mowgli (newcomer Neel Sethi), a man-cub who’s been raised by a family of wolves. But Mowgli finds he is no longer welcome in the jungle when fearsome tiger Shere Khan (voice of Idris Elba), who bears the scars of Man, promises to eliminate what he sees as a threat. Urged to abandon the only home he’s ever known, Mowgli embarks on a captivating journey of self-discovery, guided by panther-turned-stern mentor Bagheera (voice of Ben Kingsley), and the free-spirited bear Baloo (voice of Bill Murray). Along the way, Mowgli encounters jungle creatures who don’t exactly have his best interests at heart, including Kaa (voice of Scarlett Johansson), a python whose seductive voice and gaze hypnotizes the man-cub, and the smooth-talking King Louie (voice of Christopher Walken), who tries to coerce Mowgli into giving up the secret to the elusive and deadly red flower: fire. The all-star cast also includes Lupita Nyong’o as the voice of the fiercely protective mother wolf Raksha, and Giancarlo Esposito as the voice of wolf pack’s alpha male Akela. “The Jungle Book” seamlessly blends live-action with photorealistic CGI animals and environments, using up-to-the-minute technology and storytelling techniques to immerse audiences in an enchanting and lush world. The wild adventure swings into theaters in 3D on April 15, 2016.

Lego DC Comics Super Heroes: Justice League: Cosmic Clash

20160227_115741

Long name, yes. Good movie- also yes.
The newest film in the line of Lego DC Comics Super Heroes films has arrived, and this time we delve deeper into the Justice League’s team of heroes as well as one of their most feared villains- Brainiac. The story follows Brainiac’s plan to expand his ever growing collection of planets with the Earth. The only problem is that it has a ‘firewall’, as he puts it. (The “firewall” being the Justice League.) In order to deal with them, he throws who he believes to be the three strongest heroes (Super Man, Wonder Woman, and Green Lantern) to various time periods, erasing their memories and leaving Batman, Flash, and Cyborg to figure out how to save the day.

20160227_104807
This movie is full of fun characters like the Legion of Super Heroes and Super Girl, while also keeping true to the Lego name.   It was funny and quirky, with brick textures and environments, as well as fun kid friendly versions of popular super heroes.
Personally, Batman is always a favorite with his quick wit and dark brooding emotions, but this movie also casts a new light on the kinder friendlier version of the character. There are so many references to other movies, songs, TV shows and other “Easter Eggs” as it is put, that it is hard to catch them all in one viewing- but the ones you do catch are really funny.  Like, really.  Laugh out loud funny- and not just for kids.

20160227_111715

We were able to meet some of the voice and production cast from the movie- Troy Baker (voice of Batman), James Arnold Taylor (Flash,) and Khary Payton (Cyborg) attended,  as well as producer Brandon Vietti, director Rick Morales, and writer Jim Krieg.M y son especially enjoyed meeting “Cyborg”, who also voices the character on the TV show “Teen Titans”.  My son loves that show- and meeting “Cyborg” in person kind of made him “fanboy” out a little bit.  Side note- it’s not really a voice Khary Payton does for Cyborg so much as his own voice, which was kind of neat.  It was like hearing a character all the time, ha. They were all very nice about it, and meeting fans and children.  They took questions from media, the audience, and the kids as well.
