Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day

Some movies are deep and meaningful, others are light and fun. While still others fit in the various shades between. Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day is a light and fun comedy brought to you by Disney Motion Pictures Studios. The story is based on the award winning book by Judith Viorst’s book called Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day. After reading the book and watching the play, I have to say the movie takes the general story and extends it with a different storyline and more Steve Carrell.

The movie follows a few days in the life of a family of 5, mother father, 2 sons and a daughter. The youngest is Alexander, who has the worst of luck for an 11 year old. Problem being, his bad days are epically horrible from almost burning down a class room to having the entire school blow off his birthday party. At the end of this horrid day, Alexander makes himself a birthday dessert and makes a wish, for his family to experience his bad day for once. From here the family does just that- everyone wakes up late, cars won’t start, then the minivan gets into a horrible accident DURING a driver’s license test, it all goes wrong to the point where there is a crocodile lose in the house. The story is full of slapstick comedy where you can help but at least giggle a little bit, but it is not the deepest of movies and is not for everyone.  It’s perfect for young kids, just who it is aimed for.  Little Man enjoyed the movie thoroughly laughing out loud throughout. Personally I feel it was a bit much, exaggerated, overacting, etc- but I am pretty sure I am not the core audience. It’s a kids movie, made for kids, and kids love crazy, over the top humor.

Newly Remastered Pee-wee’s Playhouse: The Complete Series

When I was a kid, this was my favorite show. Loved it, couldn’t wait for it to come on, can still quote most of it show.  I am thrilled that it’s out and re-mastered on DVD. I don’t get that tea-kettle voice often, but picture it here.  I. Am. Excited.

It will be out this Oct. 21, so get your pre-orders in, get to WalMart, and hit up anyplace else you can find that carries it- and then grab some way too sugary cereal and watch it all at once. I don’t care how old you are, you know you want to.

ALEXANDER AND THE TERRIBLE, HORRIBLE, NO GOOD, VERY BAD DAY – New Clip

Disney’s “Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day” follows the exploits of 11-year-old Alexander (Ed Oxenbould) as he experiences the most terrible and horrible day of his young life—a day that begins with gum stuck in his hair, followed by one calamity after another. But when Alexander tells his upbeat family about the misadventures of his disastrous day, he finds little sympathy and begins to wonder if bad things only happen to him. He soon learns that he’s not alone when his mom (Jennifer Garner), dad (Steve Carell), brother (Dylan Minnette) and sister (Kerris Dorsey) all find themselves living through their own terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day. Anyone who says there is no such thing as a bad day just hasn’t had one.

“Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day,” directed by Independent Spirit Award-winner Miguel Arteta (“The Good Girl,” “Cedar Rapids,” “Youth in Revolt”) from a screenplay by Rob Lieber, is a 21 Laps Entertainment/Jim Henson Company production. The film hits theaters nationwide Oct. 10, 2014.

Marvel Universe Live

When can you step into the world of super heroes in the flesh? Of course, you need explosions and action, fights and excitement, but all the while in a safe  and fun environment. The answer to the question is with Marvel Universe Live. This new live action show features The Avengers, Shield, Spider man, and even a few X-Men join in the adventure. This makes the show big and action packed, and of course not to be missed by any comic book or hero fan.

8 17 14 012The story of Marvel Universe Live is easy enough to explain, the heroes must split up into teams to save the planet from some of Marvel universes fiercest foes, including Hydra, AIM, Lizard, Rhino, and Red Skull. But fear not the super hero bill is quite large two including Captain America, Captain Marvel, Thor, Iron Man, Spider Man, Hulk, Wolverine and Storm to name a few. All of which play key roles in saving the day. As the group splits to various parts of the world the action splits up too, from secret laboratories to snow capped mountains to the Statue of Liberty the scenes are big and feel like you are in the action. There is lots of fighting, lots of explosions and also motorcycles and tricks. One of the most memorable scenes would have to be Spider man and Thor at the Statue of Liberty. Not only is the statue represented but the high flying action between Spider-Man and his foes are represented in a big way including flying gliders, web slinging and of course Thor’s famous thunder hammer.
