Bob Evans features “Farmhouse Deals”- win yours here!

We are BIG fans of Bob Evans Restaurants at this house- the only bummer is, that there is no restaurant that is nearby!  Good thing that we travel so much, or we would never get to stop in at one of our favorite places.  Priced right for a family with a budget, you won’t ever walk away hungry (or broke, either!)  As soon as you walk in, a friendly host will offer your children kids menu packages with crayons and a silly straw- they even get to choose the color  🙂   My son always take about a zillion years deliberating, LOL.  He is the biggest Bob Evans fan of all of us- as you know, he is obsessed with all things farm and Amish!  The Bob Evans we eat at most is located near one of our favorite places- Lancaster, PA (home of quite a few farms and Amish, so my son is in bliss!)  He always get the same meal- the Lil’ Farmers Breakfast, which includes 1 egg, bacon or sausage, pancakes, home fries- everything a little farmer needs!  🙂

Once this past summer, while we were in Bowling Green Kentucky at the Baymont Inn, my son saw to his delight that it shared a parking lot with a Bob Evans.  It was the day after his birthday- can I tell you how happy he was (and how many times we ended up eating there?  LOL).  At one point, at roughly 9 PM (and you all know his bedtime is always 7:30, and I don’t mess with that!) he was still awake in his bed, begging me to take him back to Bob Evans to get him a Little Farmers Breakfast.  Worn down and tired, I finally gave in.  It was almost closing time, and we had already had dinner there, so the waitress looked at me like I had 9 heads when I ordered a “to go” Little Farmers Breakfast, LOL.  What is a mommy to do?

Bob Evans now has these great “Farmhouse Deals“- featuring 10 different meals for $6 each.  Great price, right?  You can’t even get fast food for that price.  These ten meals are-

Bob Evans Sausage Gravy breakfast

Two Eggs, sausage, or bacon, and 2 biscuits,

Sausage and Biscuit Bowl

Spinach, Bacon, and tomato Biscuit Bowl

Boarder Scramble Biscuit Bowl

Homemade Meatloaf Knife and fork Sandwich

Slow Roasted Turkey knife and fork Sandwich

Chicken and Noodles Deep Dish Dinner

Spaghetti with Meat Sauce

Chicken and Broccoli Alfredo

I LOVE Bob Evans biscuits.  We don’t get a whole lot of biscuits in the area I am from, so I look forward to them when we travel.  Bob Evans also has great family style meals you can pickup and bring home for the family, perfect for those nights you don’t feel like cooking, or for holidays.

If you are in an area where there is a Bob Evans, I totally suggest you pop in and try these great Farmhouse Deals- for only $6, you really can’t go wrong.  Where else can you get a meal for that price?  A REAL meal, not a greasy drive-thru mess.  And if you are like me, and do not have a Bob Evans near you (Come on Bob!  Get over here!) that’s OK- you can do like me, and stop by next time you are traveling.  Family friendly setting, priced right for the average brood that wants to eat out and still pay the mortgage  (LOL) and they won’t make you wait long, either- thus making sure your kid(s) won’t turn into a wiggely, whiney mess  🙂

Stop on by the next time you are in town!
One of you will have the chance to try out these new meals for free- you can win here!
First Prize: Bob Evans gift card (ARV $25).
Second Prizes (5): Meal coupon.

An Act of Kindness Can Help Create Bully Free Schools

This information was provided to me by the sponsor- I have never personally used these products, but thought that you all may like to hear about it.

“Over the years, school districts have made attempts to implement acts of kindness programs and teach kindness lessons in an effort to alleviate the problem of bullying in schools. Bullying is a long-standing, all too common form of intimidation and stress for children. The constant alarm and anxiety felt can make it difficult for targeted children to focus or engage in a classroom, which can cause learning to become arduous and frustrating.

Boom Boom! Revolution is optimistic that with teamwork and dedication an end can be brought to this unfortunate occurrence. As part of Boom Boom! Revolution’s continuing desire to bring forth an uprising of guerilla goodness, Boom Boom! developed acts of kindness cards that not only offer educators an exciting method for teaching kindness, but also encourage kids to perform kind acts intentionally, and regularly!

Most people are aware of the typical forms of bullying – after school playground conflicts and lunch money theft – often made light of in films or on TV. Yet, bullying comes in many forms of physical maltreatment, and more often as psychological abuse. Having an entire school community stand united against bullying is likely to be the best deterrent, but with the right tools, one brave individual can also make a lasting difference.

Boom Boom! Cards’ Teen Deck is one such tool. For those ready to take a stand against bullying, Card #26 provides a great start, “The next time it’s necessary, stand up for someone who is being made fun of.” Yet, cracking jokes at someone else’s expense isn’t the only type of bullying found in schools. Social isolation and peer pressure are also prevalent. These types of group bullying can be confronted by a simple act of kindness like the one on Teen Deck Card #18, “Ask someone who is alone at lunch or break to join you.”

To extend the efforts against bullying, professional staff in the school community can take a vested interest in making a positive impact on students’ behavior by teaching kindness lessons via acts of kindness performed on a regular basis. These acts should showcase peer consideration and emphasize teamwork among one another. In addition, trained staff should be accessible to students in need of assistance, to include bullies, as they often struggle with confidence issues or challenges in their personal lives.

The Teen Edition of Boom Boom! Cards can also help to reinforce a school’s effort at home. For example, Teen Deck Card #6 aids in communication, “When your parents or guardians ask, ‘How was your day?’ actually tell them,” however, parents need to make time to ask the question and to listen very closely, as a child may try to express trouble in school in an indirect, discreet manner.

Boom Boom! Revolution is proud to work with educators and parents to give kids the knowledge and courage they need to not only stop bullying, but to prevent them from becoming a bully themselves. With proper guidance and support, students of all ages can become Boom Boom! Revolution Agents of Altruism, intentionally performing acts of kindness wherever they go!”

#Win Disney DVD Jake and the Never Land Pirates: Yo Ho, Mateys Away! Contest

September 27th is the release of Jake and the Never Land Pirates: Yo Ho, Mateys Away! on DVD,  from Disney Junior’s #1 series! Also, September 20th was the Disney Records’ album release of eighteen hook-filled songs from the Jake and the Never Land Pirates’ series.

A new soundtrack and DVD inspired by Disney Junior’s #1 series Jake and the Never Land Pirates, are planned to set sail this September with Walt Disney Records’ album release of eighteen hook-filled songs from the series on September 20 and The Walt Disney Studios “Jake and the Never Land Pirates: Yo Ho, Mateys Away!” DVD release featuring seven episodes from the series on September 27.

Jake and the Never Land Pirates is cable’s #1 series among Boys 2-5 and is on track to be Disney Channel’s #1 preschool series ever. It is the most co-viewed series among all Disney Junior and Nickelodeon series, with 47% of Moms watching with their preschooler. A music-filled interactive treasure hunt, the series introduces a crew of kid pirates – leader Jake and pals Izzy and Cubby – and follows their Never Land

adventures as they work to outwit two infamous characters, the one and only Captain Hook and Smee, from Disney’s classic “Peter Pan.” Every episode features the animated Sharky and Bones characters as they pop up throughout to perform original pirate ditties, and each episode concludes with a live action music video featuring The Never Land Pirate Band.

The album features a variety of songs that kids and parents can enjoy together. Songs include the kooky, comical “Hot Lava,” “Aw Coconuts,” “Pirate Password,” and the arrrghhh-rated “Talk Like a Pirate.” Some songs refer to popular characters in the show, such as “What’s Cookin’ Smee,” “Captain Hook (Is A Cranky Crook),” “Tick Tock Croc” and “Bucky’s Shanty.” Others capture the island spirit of Never Land, such as “Castaway on Pirate Island,” “Shipwreck Shuffle” and “Never Sky,” as well as the “Jake and the Never Land Pirates” theme song. All songs can be heard in episodes of the show.

Jake and the Never Land Pirates: Yo Ho, Mateys Away!, a DVD packed full with seven episodes from the series and two incredible bonus features including Yo Ho, You Want To Be A Pirate?, where Jake teaches viewers how to talk like a pirate, and Pirate Party With Pirate-oke, a collection of music videos performed by The Never Land Pirate Band that allow viewers to enjoy with or without the sing-along/karaoke-like feature.

For those of you who read my post about our Pre-School Pirate Party, you know that the kids loved it and that they had a great time with the DVD!  The songs are really cute as well, and the kids had a great time dancing around, pretending to be pirates.   (What kid wouldn’t?)

Retailing for the suggested price of $19.99 in the U.S. and $24.99 in Canada, the Jake and the Never Land Pirates: Yo Ho, Mateys Away! DVD also comes packaged with a bonus 7-track CD sampler and a pirate eye patch.

One of you will win this DVD, eyepatch, and CD sampler set of Jake and the Never Land Pirates.  Want to win?  Here is how to enter!

What is there to do in Dublin? (Ohio, that is!)

It would take less time to talk about what ISN’T available to you in Dublin– you and your family won’t be bored.
Home to the aptly named Dublin Irish Festival (Like Ireland, only smaller!) that has been names a Top 100 Event in North America, Dublin cherishes it’s Irish flair. Even if it’s roots are not Irish- the attitude definately is! Your friends will be green with envy when you show them all your fantastic photos of your trip, and you will be seeing green as well- Kelly Green, of course!

There is so much to see and do, that if you don’t schedule your whole vacation here, you will want to include at least a few days. (And make sure you go to the Visitors Center website- there are awesome Kids Eat Free packages, complete with attractions and hotel deals!)

A foodie’s paradise, there is more then just Irish fare offered in Dublin- Kogen’s offers some great food and great prices, and is one of the many restaurants that participate in the Kids Eat Free program available. Though they are an Asian and Sushi restaurant, don’t be fooled- they offer a truly wide variety, as well as a full service bar, happy hour, and kids menu that will please even the pickiest eaters.

You can’t go to Dublin without eating Irish at least once- so please let me recommend Mary Kelley’s! This eatery is Irish in every aspect, from the food, to the name, to the owners and it’s roots. As you look around, you will enjoy a glimpse into the restaurant’s history, the family that owns it- past and present, and items that will interest those who love all things Irish.

Columbus, Ohio- neighbor of Dublin by just a few minutes- is home to the #1 Zoo In America, as voted by USA Travel Guide. With new attractions, Polar Frontier and Manatee Coast, in addition to all the other zoo favorites like African Forest and Asia Quest, you and your children are in for a whirlwind world tour- all in one place. The educational aspect is not to be overlooked, either. Your children can learn about, and even interact with some of their favorite animals. Animals are wonders to children. Zoos and Aquariums like this one will help your child gain a lifelong love of animals, and help them learn why conservation and protection are so necessary to all our animal friend’s survival.

Columbus Zoo and Aquarium is a fantastic place to spend the day- not only is it Jack Hanna’s haunt, but your kids can play in Jungle Jack’s Landing, and head on over to Zoombezi Bay Water Park (same address, same location, no driving necessary!) to cool off after a day of fun in the sun. As it is part of the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium’s complex (which also includes the Safari Golf Club), all you need is a bathing suit and you are ready for a day of memory making with the kids, and one they will talk about for a long time to come. How can you beat a zoo that is also a water park? I’d bet you can’t.

What else can you do while you are in Dublin? Well- how much time do you have? Because I can go on all day.
Happy travels!

Disclosure- I visited the above locations  free of charge in order to facilitate this review.  All opinions are my own.

Our visit to @LakeNaomiClub

Lake Naomi is a great place for families, a wonderful place to get away, spend the week- or the summer! This 5 Star Platinum Club Community has it all- pristine lakes, beautiful pools, kayaking, fishing, an amazing array of recreational activities to choose from- all nestled within a naturalistic atmosphere. You have all the beauty of nature, all the sounds and sights of a lush forest everywhere you travel within the Lake Naomi Club grounds- with all the modern conveniences and a great locality. You won’t miss a thing, from high speed WiFi, to tons of eateries, everything is right at your fingertips no matter how rustic-looking the atmosphere seems. Nature combines with high tech and ultra convenience seamlessly. Clean, sleek, and well run, I easily could wile away many days there with my kids.

The community seemed to be just that. People were friendly, and everyplace I went, residents were introducing themselves to me, saying hello, shaking my hand and asking my name. The staff was friendly, helpful, and sweet.

My husband, grandmother (age 80), and two kids came with me to Lake Naomi. While I went to visit the property, my husband, grandma, and kids wanted to swim in the indoor pool at the Clubhouse.
(The clubhouse, by the way, also has a gameroom, several children’s centers, snack bar, gym, and quite a few classes and teams for adults, kids, teens, and combined.)

We toured Timber Trails, which had been the original property, before it “married” Lake Naomi. Now the two properties’ residents can go to all the vicinities of each other- but they do retain their own unique identity, as any good marriage should. Lake Naomi is just beautiful, and has lovely property. With about %15 year round residents, the rest are summer or vacation homes and rentals.

The lake was everything you could want- clean, clear- and without biting flies or mosquitoes that make you want to pack it up and head home. There is kayaking, sailing, and fishing available, as well as swimming lessons for the beginner through the advanced looking to improve technique.
You can take lessons in just about anything you enjoy, want to learn, or want to improve- and the best part?
These classes are offered and taught by professionals, golf pros, tennis pros, etc- so you will only learn from the best.

If you are athletic, Lake Naomi will feel like heaven to you- they have golf courses, tennis courts, state-of-the-art gyms, pools and swimming lanes, the aforementioned kayaking and sailing, trails to run, hike, or walk on (depending on your desires)- I can keep going, but I think you understand- Lake Naomi has it all! Even Bocci Ball 🙂

For those of you who prefer a gentler style, or who like to incorporate it into your life- tai chi and yoga are offered (including yoga on the beach- which I am so sad that I missed, I would have loved to do it) as well as pilates and many other fun fitness styles like Zumba.
If you prefer things on the quiet, yet social side, there are groups like the Book Club and Quilting Group that you can meet up with. There truly is something for everyone.

Lake Naomi, one of the largest private lakes in PA, as well as being one of the cleanest and clearest, has seven beaches and nine marinas. You can visit a different beach every day of the week! There are no gas boats permitted, and the lakes have plenty of fish, which makes for a perfect day for canoeing and fishing alike, as well as for relaxing. There are three swimming pools, including the heated one that is lakeside and hosts some spectacular views, one indoor, and 2 waterslides. There are kid-only activities, as well as kids summer camp.

We spent the afternoon on the lake’s beach, and then went off to the pool at Timber Trails. My kids, grandmother, husband, and I had a wonderful day at a wonderful place. I hope you get to visit sometime soon. If you are looking for that “special someplace” to spend your summers, I would highly consider Lake Naomi as a destination. It’s the perfect mix of recreation, relaxation, and family.
