Like a child’s drawing brought to life, Castle Farm is a gentle series from England full of color and colorful characters.  Join Farm Girl, Piggy, Leonard, Farmer and all the barnyard animals as they solve mysteries, fix things, get chores done, play games and learn lessons about friendship, responsibility and having fun.  Each vignette is filled with its own tiny adventure that will engage youngsters again and again.
Castle Farm Volume 1 includes the episodes “Snails,” “The Carrot Thief,” “Ball Games,” “A Windy Day,” “Amber,” “The Prickly Flower,” “Bubbles,” “Trophy” and “Waiting for Winnie.”  Volume 2 includes “Muddy Farm,” “Little Bo Lost,” “Stinging Nettles,” “The Twirly Spinner,” “Talking Trouble,” “Woodlice,” “Pumpkin on the Loose,” “Blackberries” and “Eight Legs.”
Happy Valley, a charming series also from England, is set in a beautiful countryside by the sea.  Using traditional and contemporary nursery rhymes and songs, each episode tells a story about the children who live in the valley as they learn about the world around them.  Whether taking a school trip, visiting grandparents, or a simple walk in nature, the tales are endearing and captivating and appeal to even the youngest of viewers.  My kids love the English accents, and the drawings look like they were done by kids.  These simple and sweet stories, drawn with child like images, are simply adorable.  My son likes “Piggy” and my daughter likes “Farm Girl”.  As many of you know, my son is obsessed with farms, the Amish, and all things related to these subjects- you can imagine that these DVDs are a hit with him, especially!  

I love the sweet and simple messages of each short clip- being a good friend, helping, being kind to others, etc.  Also?  These are great time-wise- each short is just a few minutes long, so if you are like me and don’t allow much in the way of TV, this is an easy “give”.  Good messages and a small window of time in front of the TV?  GOAL!  LOL.

 I was telling you all earlier today that I am in the process or changing up my daughters room. We have almost everything but the most important part- a new bed. Naptime is always interesting at the Pre-K.  And my Little makes it more interesting, by NEVER SLEEPING ON A NAP MAT.  You read that right.  After putting 20+ kids down (and you thought your brood was tough!  LOL) my son will not get on a nap mat.  Yes, all the other kids do, even the 2 year olds.  My son?  NOT GONNA HAPPEN.  I bed, I argue, I even offered treats if he would just sleep on his mat- and then I gave up.  My son will only sleep in HIS bed, or his pack and play.  This makes travel interesting, as well, haha.  But I am trying not to sweat the small stuff.  After all, he can’t bring it with him to college, right?  (RIGHT?????)     🙂

SO!  When I got this adorable Monkey Sleeping Bag from HearthSong, one of my very favorite places to shop for children’s gifts, I was thrilled and just beside myself when he brought it to school….to take a nap on.  NOT in the pack and play.  LOOK!

OK, this may seem like some small thing to some of you.  However, I think all of our children have had things they just won’t “budge” on, be it potty training, switching to a bed, giving up a certian toy, not throwing food- you get the idea.  They get “stuck” on things now and again.  My son loves Jungle Animals (have you seen pictures of his room?  LOL all jungle themend!) so I knew he would love the sleeping bag- but I never thought it would get him on a nap mat.  But you saw it- I have proof!  Hahaha   🙂

If your child is an animal lover, they will just love to nap on a Monkey Sleeping Bag at their Pre-K, to have a familiar place to sleep when traveling, or going to grandma’s- any chance they get, really.   It has a handle on the back for easy carrying as well.  There is also the option of a Cute Kitty.  Adorable, yes? 

The monkey head is an attached pillow, which is very smart so that your child can’t lose it while at school or traveling about with it.  Monkey Sleeping bag comes with a stuffed banana- I suppose the monkey may get hungry!- and I thought it was kind of a silly thing to have.  Until, that is, my son stared bringing it even to his regular bed.  And the kids at the school all wanted to play with it. what is it about a stuffed banana?  The world may never know….but who cares, they have fun with it!  And that monkey bag?  UH, LOVE IT.

AboutOne- Homework Help- Review and Contest

Alright, so its that time of year again.  Summer temperatures are simmering at a boil, the janitors are finishing up cleaning the under bellies of the desks and moms everywhere are getting ready to do a happy dance.  🙂

But in the midst of this happy dance, there is a monster just below the surface  As the kids are once again thrust into school, we are also scheduling more events into a smaller window of time.  Sports practice, homework, projects, play dates, school, etc etc.  There has got to be a way to keep all this stuff in order and in one place.

Solution? A huge complicated spreadsheet could work.  But what happens when its lost?  Or you need someone else to look at it for you and get a time of day or address?  Huge problems, that’s what.
My suggestion, Aboutone.com.  A normal mom needs this little helper to assist.  AboutOne acts as a filing system, calender, scheduler, important data organizer and so much more.  This one site will show you how to get organized.

The graphical interface is both easy and intuitive,  with a few clicks you are able to pull up any data you may need.  You can either click through specific schedules and data by family member or view them as a whole.  The various categories of data are presented on the top of each page, “Family, Address Book, Education, Health, Possessions”.  This site acts as a digital filing system and more.  My husband’s office is currently in the process of ‘going paperless’ and the most daunting task is figuring out a file system everyone can understand and use it without each individual tweaking it and losing data and time.

I think AboutOne is a great way to make your home filing “paperless.”  It will show you how to straighten up and even how to declutter your home.  It also gives you good ideas on how to organizes your hard copies of documents, if you still feel the need to hold onto them.  A folder for each heading on the site would work out perfectly.

TONKA CHUCK & FRIENDS Fold ’n Go Tumble Tower Playset

This is one of my son’s favorite toys of the summer- Chuck the Truck!  We have received this Fold ’n Go Tumble Tower Playset for review, and I am very happy to tell you about it.  If you have a child who loves trucks, you will definitely want to know more about Chuck and Friends  🙂

Little Man loves to watch Chuck on The Hub onTV.  Daddy is a little more flexible on the TV rules then Mommy is- so if I am at a yoga class, at the store, or working an overnight- you can bet Little has a whole lot more TV time then with momma, LOL.  Chuck is always one of his picks, and we have it “On Demand” so he loves that he can go through several shows.  Mommy keeps telling Daddy not to let he watch so many shows at once- but…well, you know daddies.  When the Cat is away, and all that jazz, haha.  And I digress!

I confess I only saw one episode of Chuck- because Little Man told me all about it, what Chuck does, who his friends are, and I wanted to see what Daddy was putting on for him, LOL.  But it’s a cute little show, and the toys that go along with it are fun.  This one has been in my living room for far too long, and I keep trying to get it into the playroom- with no luck.  Somehow, within a day or so, it is back on my coffee table.  What can one do!  I am just going to go with it for now, since he loves it so much.  The boys at the Pre-K are also having a blast with it- he brings it to school at least once a week, haha.  Chuck is getting some play- literally!

Here is a bit more information on the Fold ’n Go Tumble Tower Playset-
“Rev up your engine for tons of tumbling fun! Set your CHUCK THE DUMP TRUCK vehicle at the top of this tower to watch him tumble down the moving ramp and come speeding out the side. We were also sent this PLAYSKOOL WHEEL PALS ANIMAL TRACKS FILL ’ER UP FARMSTAND Playset that has it’s own launch track as well.  However- Little has adapted this a bit and made the horse NAMEOFHORSE a “friend” for Chuck, so they have adventures together now.  Trucks and horses?  Why not?

It is a cute set, and would also be great for younger kids.  Animals with wheels are really just double the fun, no?  LOL.  Plus then they can play with your trucks AND other animals!  See how that works?  Thank goodness I have Little here to explain everything for me, haha.
