Hide 'em & Hatch 'em Eggs

Each year, parents struggle with the same question…what should I put in the Easter basket? It needs to be cute, clever and (hopefully) wallet friendly.

Check out the new Hide ’em and Hatch ’em Eggs! These pastel colored eggs are great for hiding or filling the Easter basket, and they offer more then just the ordinary plastic eggs we are used to. Just soak them in water overnight and out will hatch some new friends…a duck, chick or bunny!

Candy Free Easter Baskets

Easter is an often-underrated family holiday, and making Easter morning special for your kids by putting together the perfect basket from “The Easter Bunny” is always fun. To help you celebrate the occasion, here are some great toys that you’ll love doing with the kids.

Easter gamesWonderforge, makers of creative children’s games, has created the Disney Matching game. The classic matching game, where you and your child turn over cards, trying to remember where the matching counterpart is, now with your favorite Disney characters like Mickey Mouse, Tinker Bell, Donald Duck, and more all dressed up for Easter. This game will not only be a fun Easter treat, but will also give you and your child bonding time while helping to increase his or her memory, response to patterns, and problem solving skills.

For older children, try the new Nickelodeon Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Clash Alley Strategy Board Game. With many of the toys, shows, and games from the 80’s making a comeback, todays kids are loving the new TMNT as much as their counterparts just a few years ago. This is a strategy board game, working in 3D to beat the bad guys and rescue April, eat pizza, complete missions, battle bad guys, Krang, and Shredder. Of course, there will be pizza breaks- turtles have to eat. Enjoy helping your child physically build the game and defeat evildoers together.

Shabby Chic Valentines Decorations

Valentines Day Crafts

For some reason this year Valentine’s Day has me inspired! I just keep finding ways to decorate my house for the holidays! Pink and red everywhere are not my cup of tea, so I am trying to find a way to decorate for the day without it looking like cupid threw up all over my house.

Valentine's Day Crafts

This project is really simple, plus it cost me less than $2 for the total project! It saved something from the landfill, makes my house look amazing, and didn’t break the bank. Now THAT sounds like a win/win/win situation to me!

For this project there are really only a few supplies that you will need.

Supplies

Picture frame (got mine for $1 at Goodwill)

Cream colored card stock or scrapbook paper

5 sheets of valentine’s or red/purple/pink scrapbook paper

Scissors (I LOVE using my Cutterbee’s for this)

Tape

Pencil

To get start on this frame, you want to measure the area in your frame. For this particular one, I needed [Read more…]

Post Holiday Blues

FL 2- New Years 2013 484

The holidays are over. Santa has come and gone, Chanukah’s eight crazy nights are now one heck of a migraine, and insert holiday of choice here, because I am not going to create a pun for all of them- LOL. At the end of it all, we are thankful for our family and friends but most of all we are thankful the holidays are over and we can start a new year with some normalcy.
But what happens when everyone gets that new shiny toy or piece of tech but you? Who give the best gifts, but is destined to enjoy the holiday through others and their gifts instead of their own, well- unfortunately mommy.

Creative Ways to Save Money on Gifts for the Holidays

The holidays are just around the corner–for some, they are already upon us. For those of you shopping right up to the final deadline, you’ll need to get creative in order to save money on your gift shopping. Stock up on coffee and candy canes to give you the rush you need to get through your shopping, and try some of these creative ways to save money on your gifts this year:

  1. Use Your Old Gift Cards
Many of us have old gift cards sitting around the house from any number of retailers. Every holiday seems to bring in more of them, and we don’t always have the time to make good use of them. Those old gift cards can become your ticket to a budget friendly holiday season–regifting the cards themselves is one option, or you can use them in lieu of cash when you go out shopping.
  2. Unleash Your Inner Artist
The greatest holiday gifts of all are those that come from the heart. Money can buy a lot of things, but it can’t buy your personal creative touch. Crafting your own gifts is a great way to save money and give your loved ones something they’ll remember for ages. Everything from creative works of art, [Read more…]
