Review and #Giveaway from Educational Insights- not to be missed for parents and teachers :)

As a Pre-K teacher, there are some things I just take real pleasure in reviewing and writing up. Educational Insights is such a great company, making great (and fun!) educational toys and games, that I own more of their products then I could ever review. So lets start with some of their most fabulous and fun items, that have been delighting kids for some time, and now have been giving my Pre-K kids some educational enjoyment 🙂

Inside Out ™ Lenticular Human Body Poster
A seriously awesome poster for any science fan (I have one on my door in my room)! Don’t look away! A magical way to present the carious layers of the human body, the Lenticular Human Body Poster shifts from two kids to their skeletal systems, muscular systems, and organs. You won’t believe your eyes! Grades 1+/Ages 6+

Our Human Body week is not here yet- but you can be sure I will be bringing this in with me!

Sneaky, Snacky Squirrel Game
Your forest friends are hungry and they need your help! Spin the spinner, squeeze the matching colored acorn with your Squirrel Squeezers, and place it into your log. Be the first to your log with delicious acorns and you win! You could also spin “pick an acorn,” “steal an acorn,” or “lose an acorn,” so be strategic, little squirrel!
The kids had a great time with this game- they still are not bored with it, and the tweezers improve dexterity.  The rules are easy to explain and implement (and to understand!) so the kids can have fun and n ot be frustrated.

The perfect first microscope! Great for introducing scientific observation.
·  Features a dial children can turn to listen to fun facts about what they’re seeing on the slides
·  Challenges children to remember what they’ve learned in an electronic quiz game
·  Includes 12 prepared slides of common insects
·  Magnifies 5x and provides a light for easy, close-up viewing
·  Requires 3 C batteries, not included

Ages 5+/ Grades K+

The kids for realsies love this!   They can’t get enough, and I had to create a schedule for them to all get turns without driving me insane, LOL.  WOW is bug week going to be great!

Playfoam

The ONLY no-mess creativity substance for preschoolers!

Preschoolers are free to express their creativity — with no mess to clean up afterward! Just squish up the Playfoam®, shape it however you like, squash it back down, and start all over again. Playfoam® never dries out so the creativity never ends — and the secret no-stick formula means you can take it anywhere for creative fun on the go!

It does not dry out, no matter how long you leave it uncovered someplace.  I am going on nearly a month uncovered in the stockroom at the Pre-K- and it is still just fine.  Side note?  My son ate some- and I can tell you for sure it’s non-toxic.  Ugh.  First thing he ever ate that WASN’T food, LOL.

Educational Insights is currently giving away $100 EducationalInsights.com gift cards to one lucky person every weekday.   The offer is featured on our website (www.educationalinsights.com) and on our Facebook page (www.facebook.com/educationalinsights) under the “WIN!” tab.

Boy Scouts

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Boy Scouts of America for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.
We all know who the Boy Scouts of America are.  Or at least we think we know what they are.  When was the last time you actually attended a meeting.  For me it was with my little brothers, and it was forever ago.  But I will admit we will be looking into Boy Scouts once Little Man gets big enough.  There are a few simple reasons for this.  Community and self respect, given the boy scouts history of community involvement and social interaction in a friendly nurturing environment that teaches children life skills and values.
The Cub Scouts start at age 7 or first grad right on through fifth grad or age 10.  The cub scouts emphasis environment awareness as well as teamwork and manual dexterity.  Next up is Boy Scouts, ages 11 through 17,  the boy scouts help kids learn how to do things for themselves, be self reliant as well as how to prove themselves an integral member of a  group.  And now we have Venturers who are between the ages of 14 to 20.  yes these are the older ‘kids’ but they get to do older ‘kid’ stuff, like rock climbing, white water rafting and zip line riding.  Pretty cool if you ask me.
No matter what age your little guy is, little girls have the girl scouts, Boy Scouts is a nice way to socialize, individualize, and also give a bit more of those morals that seem to be slowly slipping away from our children day by day.

Personal Creations Review and #Contest ($50)

Every little kids needs a backpack that’s just his or her size for back to school, for going to grandma’s, and those random day trips to the zoo, park, and wherever else you may be headed! So where is a great place to find one, that everyone else doesn’t already have?  Personal Creations of course!  Great place for kids backpacks.
My son just got his, and I can tell you that I have never seen one like it before. As a Pre-K teacher who was a nanny for 10 years, if I haven’t seen this backpack, you can bet your child will be the only (or at least one of the only!) kids to have it!

How cute is this little Monkey Rolling Backpack?  I can’t show you mine exactly, since it has his “real’ name on it, but you get the idea!

Your child’s backpack will still be easy to spot, though, because you can personalize it with his or her name. It has adjustable straps, a small handle and wheels. You can’t fit a TON in there, so it is best for small kids (Preschool age).
Personal Creations is a great place for all your back to school needs, I just love their backpack and lunchbox sets!

One of you will have the chance to win a $50 gift code from Personal Creations.  Here is how to enter!

#Win Disney DVD Jake and the Never Land Pirates: Yo Ho, Mateys Away! Contest

September 27th is the release of Jake and the Never Land Pirates: Yo Ho, Mateys Away! on DVD,  from Disney Junior’s #1 series! Also, September 20th was the Disney Records’ album release of eighteen hook-filled songs from the Jake and the Never Land Pirates’ series.

A new soundtrack and DVD inspired by Disney Junior’s #1 series Jake and the Never Land Pirates, are planned to set sail this September with Walt Disney Records’ album release of eighteen hook-filled songs from the series on September 20 and The Walt Disney Studios “Jake and the Never Land Pirates: Yo Ho, Mateys Away!” DVD release featuring seven episodes from the series on September 27.

Jake and the Never Land Pirates is cable’s #1 series among Boys 2-5 and is on track to be Disney Channel’s #1 preschool series ever. It is the most co-viewed series among all Disney Junior and Nickelodeon series, with 47% of Moms watching with their preschooler. A music-filled interactive treasure hunt, the series introduces a crew of kid pirates – leader Jake and pals Izzy and Cubby – and follows their Never Land

adventures as they work to outwit two infamous characters, the one and only Captain Hook and Smee, from Disney’s classic “Peter Pan.” Every episode features the animated Sharky and Bones characters as they pop up throughout to perform original pirate ditties, and each episode concludes with a live action music video featuring The Never Land Pirate Band.

The album features a variety of songs that kids and parents can enjoy together. Songs include the kooky, comical “Hot Lava,” “Aw Coconuts,” “Pirate Password,” and the arrrghhh-rated “Talk Like a Pirate.” Some songs refer to popular characters in the show, such as “What’s Cookin’ Smee,” “Captain Hook (Is A Cranky Crook),” “Tick Tock Croc” and “Bucky’s Shanty.” Others capture the island spirit of Never Land, such as “Castaway on Pirate Island,” “Shipwreck Shuffle” and “Never Sky,” as well as the “Jake and the Never Land Pirates” theme song. All songs can be heard in episodes of the show.

Jake and the Never Land Pirates: Yo Ho, Mateys Away!, a DVD packed full with seven episodes from the series and two incredible bonus features including Yo Ho, You Want To Be A Pirate?, where Jake teaches viewers how to talk like a pirate, and Pirate Party With Pirate-oke, a collection of music videos performed by The Never Land Pirate Band that allow viewers to enjoy with or without the sing-along/karaoke-like feature.

For those of you who read my post about our Pre-School Pirate Party, you know that the kids loved it and that they had a great time with the DVD!  The songs are really cute as well, and the kids had a great time dancing around, pretending to be pirates.   (What kid wouldn’t?)

Retailing for the suggested price of $19.99 in the U.S. and $24.99 in Canada, the Jake and the Never Land Pirates: Yo Ho, Mateys Away! DVD also comes packaged with a bonus 7-track CD sampler and a pirate eye patch.

One of you will win this DVD, eyepatch, and CD sampler set of Jake and the Never Land Pirates.  Want to win?  Here is how to enter!

Child Passenger Safety Week is Here! + Great Child Safety

Each year, thousands of children are tragically injured and killed in motor vehicle crashes. In fact, motor vehicle crashes are the leading cause of death for children ages 1-13.

The reason? Most parents and caregivers don’t understand how car seats work and are not familiar with the milestones a child must reach before he or she can be safely transitioned to the next car seat type or seat belt. The aim is to increase awareness during Child Passenger Safety Week (September 18-24) by educating parents and caregivers about this issue and motivate those who think they are securing their child properly to seek help, even if they’re sure their child is correctly restrained. Child Passenger Safety Week concludes with National Seat Check Saturday on September 24, where community events nationwide will have Certified Child Passenger Safety Technicians available to provide hands-on car seat inspections and advice — for free!

Additionally, the Child Passenger Safety Twitter account (@childseatsafety) will be hosting a live Twitter Q&A on Wednesday, September 21 at 2 p.m. ET. Safety experts from the US Department of Transportation’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration will be available to offer essential information on car seats and how to safely travel with children of all ages in cars. Just use the hashtag #CPSweek to follow along and ask your questions.
