Cat in the Hat Costume Review

Little Man loves his costumes. Just the other day he was mentioning how much he loved his old bat costume, “..but now it shrank so I can’t wear it….right? Or can I wear it?” Indeed his costume did not fit him, but of course not because it shrank, but because he grew. Sigh. He is just growing up so quickly, momma can’t stand it….but I digress.

He thoroughly enjoys to wear costumes; this kid LOVES dress up and imagination play. His most recent addition has been a Cat in the Hat costume from anytimecostumes.com. They have a whole page full of Cat in the Hat costumes. This costume is well made and good quality, and what we really like about it is that it is sort [Read more…]

Damn Yankees at the Paper Mill Playhouse

Damn Yankees, playing at the Paper Mill Playhouse at 22 Brookside Drive in Millburn, is a home run hit. Playing through April 1, this award winning musical will thrill audiances eight times a week with it’s upbeat numbers like “Those Were the Good Old Days”, “Heart” and the saucy “Whatever Lola Wants”. Paper Mill Playhouse, winner of two 2011 People’s Choice Awards, makes great theater accessable to everyone. Bringing some of Broadway’s biggest blockbusters to New Jersey’s residents and casting brilliant actors, spending a night out at the theater doen’t have to break the bank.

You can see the lights of Broadway stars right here in NJ- such as the devilish Howard McGillin, who plays Mr. Applegate (and appeared on Broadway on The Phantom of the Opera’s title character for ten years) Joseph Kalinski, (who just appeared on Broadway in “Follies” and plays Joe Boyd in this production) and Patti Cohenour (“Meg”, whose career has spanned Broadway, opera, and the ballet). The Devil may care what goes on across the tunnel- Damn Yankees has an amazing and award winning team right here. Even if lots of us do love the Yankees.

Joe Boyd, the Washington Senators baseball team’s biggest fan, loves his team a little too much. Add to that a little nostalgia to his baseball playing days of yore, and this spells trouble. When a scoundrel with his eyes on Joe’s soul sets in, it’s too much for him, and he signs on the dotted line (so to speak). The devil offers Joe the chance to return to his youth, be 22 years old, and the best ballplayer the world has ever seen- and finally beat those “damn Yankees”. While Joe makes the team and leads them into victories, he misses his wife, Meg, whom he left with only a note more then he ever thought he would.

They come in five different animals- cat, dog, monkey, froggy, and pig. They have adorable expressions, and their soft, cuddly bodies are just perfect for nap-time, bedtime, car rides, you name it. We had a near emergency, where we “lost” him at the library last week. He put the dog down while we were putting up the “smart cookie” stickers, then forgot where he put the doggie. It was near chaos for a few frantic minutes- luckily, the ladies at the library all went into “mommy mode” and all helped find the missing mutt. (We have all been there, haven’t we? [Read more…]

@SmartSilk Pillows- Review and Contest

I am going to apologize in advance- this will be something that bothers you this evening. Sorry.
I thought my pillows were not so good anymore when we started supplementing our bedroom pillow with a small couch pillow. But once we got the new SmartSilk pillows, we noticed the non-fluffy-ness of our old pillows. Their inability to keep firm enough to hold our heads. With these new SmartSilk pillows, it is a much nicer sleep. The pillows are soft and fluffy. Like sleeping on a pillow of clouds after sleeping on a pillow of pudding. Once switched over, there was no turning back.

These new pillows are made by SmartSilk. [Read more…]

Hello Kitty on DVD

Hello Kitty- a cultural phenomenon. But most only know it as the cute kitty pattern that it plastered onto anything geared toward girls of any age. Did you know there is a cartoon based on the popular franchise? Well…. actually quite a few cartoons. But for now, we will talk about one of them.

The episodes of Hello Kitty are easy to follow and very easy going in nature. Think “Leave it to Beaver” gone cartoon ๐Ÿ™‚ The stories mostly revolve around what you would expect a playful little kitty with a bow in her hair and her younger kitty sister to deal with-sharing, eating vegetables, phone etiquette, [Read more…]

Here comes Peter cotton tail. And of course its time to fill little plastic eggs and wicker baskets with chocolates and other delectable sweets.
My suggestion is to go with the good stuff, because in the end who is going to be eating the “left-overs”?
That’s right, mom and dad. In this case? Dad- maybe before Little gets into it, LOL.
