North American Bear Review and C0NTEST #Easter @NABearCo

My son love, loves, loves Easter. As holiday fun goes, he likes Christmas- but he LOVES Easter. He’s a wacky kid, what can I say? As a lover of all things cute and cuddly, my sweet boy gets very excited about hugging the Easter Bunny, and the bunny coming to our house to leave him a basket. Dying eggs, the special church service- it’s all special to him. And we all know that Easter food is the best of the year! (If you disagree- you are clearly NOT Italian! LOL)

I love finding fun Easter toys for him. One of my favorite finds is North American Bear Co, not just because thee toys are cute- which they are. They are also innovative, interesting, and machine washable.


Yes- you read that right. Almost all the toys can be machine washed. If your child has ever vomited, pooped, or even dropped his or her toy into something….unsavory…..you know what a lifesaver this is. We have all scrubbed our little pumpkin’s favorite “lovie” in a sink because it had “ew” all over it and it couldn’t be washed in your machine. WHY, toy makers, why do this to your customers? Not North American Bear! They make toys with both mom’s and kids in mind- safe for even the youngest babies, loved by kids of all ages, and coveted by mommies everywhere- since they won’t be spending an hour washing it in a sink after thier little [Read more…]

New HexBugs Scarab Review and Contest @HEXBUG

HexBugs are back and they brought a new friend- the Scarab. The Scarab is a six-legged, battery operated bug which has bug like behavior patterns and can flip itself over when upside down. Little Man thoroughly enjoys this one. It moves at a very quick pace, much quicker then the other HexBugs we have seen. Although it doesn’t seem as complex as the larva, the Scarab is still quite interesting and a very smart robot.

John Carter Movie Review

Welcome welcome Earthlings, to the wonders of Barsoom. I will try to keep this is un-spoiler like as possible but I will take for granted that you have at least seen the trailer. If not, here is the trailer, enjoy.

In the newest flick from Disney John Carter, we are introduced to the wonders and oddities of Mars, or as the Martians call it- Barsoom.
John Carter takes place soon after the American Civil War. The story revolves around John Carter who is a rifleman from the confederate army. Since the war he has moved to Arizona, looking for a fabled treasure and ends up finding more then he bargained for.

Upon his arrival on Mars we meet many strange and delightful characters with odd names, including Tars Tarkas and Sola. Both of which are Thark, huge green humanoid aliens which are fiercely barbaric and have four arms. We also meet Dejah Thoris, the princess of the red martians, who are very similar to humans except their blood is of a different color then our own.

The main story follows Carter trying to find his way back home to Earth, and in the process discovering he may be more at home away from Earth then on it.

In regard to the movie itself it is very well put together. This story is based on Edgar Rice Burroughs Princess of Mars book, which is the first in the series of Barsoom stories. Because of this, there is a lot of back story and information in this first book, so the story itself is huge. I had recently read the book which this is based on and enjoyed it. An interesting thing to remember about the book is it was first published in 1917. Thus, it is one of the first huge epic Sci Fi stories. [Read more…]

Who is a fan of Mexican food?
Maybe a little salsa here and there is how it starts, then comes the tacos and burritos. This all leads to the mystical guacamole and tortilla chip combo. This addictive combination may taste as if it is horrid for you and clogging your veins with cholesterol, but in actuality when done right with the best of ingredients, it is one of the healthiest food you can eat.

Wholly guacamole is proof of this. This guacamole is fresh, full of vitamins and minerals, a trans-fat free food, and even gluten free. The flavors are earthy and creamy with a touch of spice to get you ready for the next bite. Each bite is a joy to consume and leaves you wanting more But every good thing must come to an end, and unfortunately there is a bottom to the container.

Fret not, noble chip eaters- there is more then guacamole with which to dip. Try new wholly salsa which is one of the freshest complex salsas around. This salsa is perfect on taco night (or even breakfast time, shh!). Pour some on a fresh out of the pan cheese omelet and you’ll get a delicious Mexican breakfast. I am a big fan of the medium salsa, it has just a bit of a kick and is perfect for just about anything I have thrown it on including chicken, rice, burritos, and of course nachos.
