Top 5 Tips for Taking a Family RV Vacation

RV vacations are great times for family bonding and fun outdoors. Whether you’re planning a
camping excursion, a road trip, or any other kind of break from daily life, the RV is a great way to go.
However, there are a few things you should know before heading out. Make the best possible vacation
for you and your family by following these 5 tips.

packing a suitcase

  1. Pack Only What You NeedAs big as an RV may look from the outside, once you fill it up with your family and all their luggage
you’re going to realize quickly that space is tight. Living in such close quarters does carry the risk of
causing tension between family members, so don’t contribute to the problem by loading up the RV
with unnecessary bags. Every bit of space is precious–pack only the essentials and help the rest of your
    family to do the same.
  2. Bring Lots of MusicAn RV vacation means lots of time on the road, and no road trip is complete without a soundtrack.
Today, with the advances made in MP3 player technology, we can carry thousands of songs in the palms
of our hands. Now that there is no need to take up space with CDs or cassettes, there’s [Read more…]

How to Prevent Food Borne Illness When Traveling

Prevent Illness when travelingWhen you’re on a trip, sampling local cuisine and indulging in tasty favorites can make for
memorable experiences. However, today’s delicious lunch or a goody from the gourmet food
truck may send you on a detour to feeling sick. Here are some tips to prevent food borne illness
when traveling.

Food borne illness can bring you low with vomiting, flu-type symptoms or even diarrhea. You
may not notice you’ve been affected until hours or days after you’ve tasted the affected food or
beverage, according to the FDA’s Food Safety Tips for Healthy Holidays. Before you take the
first bite of your journey, there are several things to check at a new restaurant or other food
establishment.

Cleanliness Can Stop Contamination
Does the food preparation area look clean? Although some kitchens will be off limits to
customers, a brief glimpse can tell you if an area is disorderly or if the staff has difficulty
controlling the garbage. The World Health Organization’s Prevention of Food Borne Disease:
Five Keys to Safer Food also advises food preparers to keep raw and cooked food separate. This
can prevent the spread of contaminants to your plate.

When your food arrives, take a second to check the temperature. Food safety temperature matters. If a hamburger or chicken dish seems cold, send it back. Undercooked meat or food that hasn’t been properly prepared isn’t worth the risk of food poisoning. At buffets, pass up potato salad, eggs or other items if they aren’t kept at the  [Read more…]

Why Choose An All-Inclusive Holiday in 2013?

Sometimes you want an adventure-filled getaway, packed with activity and spontaneity
– but then other times, you just want to relax. If the latter is what you’re looking for
on your next holiday, you might want to consider booking an all-inclusive package, and
there are plenty of reasons why. Here’s what makes an all-inclusive holiday with low-
cost specialists like Jet2holidays a great option in 2013.

Everything’s Taken Care Of

All-inclusive holidays are perhaps most popular among families, and for a very simple
reason – everything, from poolside drinks to the evening’s entertainment, is covered
in the price. From the moment you arrive at your hotel you’re free to enjoy yourselves
without having to pay a penny extra, no matter how many afternoon ice creams you
want to treat yourself to! Clearly this is a huge bonus for parents who want to have

Reasons to Book A Holiday to Spain in 2013

Spain continues to be one of the most popular holiday destinations in Europe. A recent
study showed that Spain is the third most visited country in the world, just behind France
and the USA, and the popularity of this destination has held strong over the last few
decades.

As 2013 approaches, more and more people are starting to plan their holiday for next year.
With some great prices on early-bird plane tickets to be had, we explore why it is worth considering Spain
as a holiday destination.

Sun-seekers rejoice

With places like Malaga in mainland Spain enjoying average summer temperatures
of around 25C and low rainfall, it’s no wonder why so many Brits choose to flee the
disappointingly drab UK weather in favour of sunnier Spanish climes. With golden sandy
beaches and glorious weather, Spain is a sun-seeker’s paradise.

Foodie heaven

In popular resort destinations like Majorca, just about every cuisine known to man can be found, so a [Read more…]

Greetings from Disney World!

FL 2- New Years 2013 329Hello from Under the Sea! In new Fantasyland, Little Man meets with Ariel, the Little Mermaid in her new meet and greet area. We have never seen her in her fins before 🙂

The lines were insane- Disney, and Orlando as a whole was A- COLD, and B- really, really crowded during the holidays. I don’t think I will venture to this particular area this time of year again! I was hoping it would be less crazy then my area- which would not be hard- EPIC FAIL, lol. It was even more crowded then the [Read more…]

WIN $50 Shell Gas Card

Florida 2012-12-22 014

We all know that I like to travel, and do so often. But do you know I hate to fly? It’s true. I’m afraid of flying. My husband calls me a paradox, because I love the things I hate, LOL. (Love travel, hate planes!) But really, I hate everything about flying. Taking off your shoes, 300 personal and bag checks, no liquids allowed, dragging all your junk into the bathroom stall with you, paying to check even one bag (no matter how long you are gone for), the crazy costs of flying, etc. The whole experience can go fly a kite.

I’d much rather drive if at all possible. Sometimes (as in this latest trip) I am outvoted- but what can one do, right? Cest la vie. If we had driven, we would have had to leave a day earlier, but it would have saved us about $1,000 dollars. Which I can think of good uses for 🙂 Plus I would not have had to leave so much stuff at home! LOL.
