High above the Golden Gates of San Francisco, where the Pacific meets the San Fransisco Bay, stands a stunning piece of architecture- The Legion of Honor. This building serves as the Fine Arts Museum of San Francisco. The Legion was originally constructed as a replica of the Palais de la Legion d’Honneur in Paris. The replica was designed by George Applegarth and was officially sanctioned by the French government in 1915. However, because of World War I, the ground breaking didn’t occur until 1921.
